I have trialed this game a year ago and didn't like the available classes back then. (End up moving to another MMO I just quit.) I want to try the 2 new classes from the expansion pack. Does anyone know if the current buddy key trial will give you the access to the 2 new classes?
I am seriously considering join this game. Can anyone tell me if new players really need the expansion pack before the level cap? Have they added any low-level content in the expansion? Can you play as a rune keeper with an Angmar-only account?
Also, I am confused about the monthly pricing for this game: The website now listed it as 14.95 per month but I remember there was a 9.99 monthly plan while I trialed this game back then. Did they just jack up the monthly fee recently? Is that old $9.99 price still available to the new players(new accounts) now ? If so, how can one get that price? ( I will have at least 2 accounts subscribed for me & my wife, so $5 x2 a month kind of adds up.)
Thanks a lot.

- Someone has said you can try the two new classes on the trial, I havent heard a definite answer though.
- The only reason for a person to get the expansion pack (if they do not have a lvl 50), is to try the new classes. You can NOT play the new classes on an Angmar-only account.
- Since a year ago, yes, they have added pre-level 50 content. Two whole areas as a matter of fact, Evendim and Forochel.
- $15 a month has pretty much always been the standard monthly fee. Turbine has on rare occassion offered a discounted priced of $10 a month. It is still possible to get the discounted price if you get a founders referral or if you get your hands on a Mines of Moria preorder box (which I still have seen on store shelves)
I'm on the 10 day buddy key trial right now and the new classes are not available. You must purchase the full game to try the new classes. I'm not sure if this will change in the future however.
I just purchased the full game though becuase I am impressed with the game and the community. Also I felt like playing a true pve game with a great story.

Right now the Mines of Moria expansion is only 29.99 at gamestop till the 7th of December and it includes the original game also. If you were to purchase the Original it is 19.99 so for ten more dollars you get both, That's a realy good deal in my opinion.

You have to pay for the 3 month plan to get the 9.99. It's actually worth this deal if you plan to stay long term.

Thanks to all the people who answered my questions. It kind of sucks that we can't try the new class unless you purchase the full expansion.
Lazarus71, thanks for letting me know the expansion is on sale at 29.99 at gamestop. However, I just found out the original game is onsale at gogamer.com for only $2.90 right now (their 48 hour madness sale) which I just ordered from them. (think $2.90 for free 30 days itself is a good deal) So the expansion pack is still $25 more expansive to me.
Nuich, 3 month plan with $9.99 per month is not there anymore. (It's now 41.85 for 3 month) I remember the price was $9.99 for 3 month when I first trialed this game around last Christmas. In fact, I can still remeber turbine put a huge banner ad on their front page to advise that.
Man, I really wish one of these cheaper monthly rate is still available because my wife & I both play very casually. I notice a section on the official lotro forum where people can beg for founder referals, (under their free trail section) However, they won't let me post there unless I have an active account. The problem is once you create an active account with the key from the retail box, you are no longer elligible for the founder referal pricing (because you have to use that founder referal key to create a new account afterwards.) Not sure if someone here can PM me a founder referal key since I can't post on the official forum yet? (still waiting for the game to be shipped to my house)
Ive still seen Mines of Moria preorder boxes (not the actual box) on shelves, get your hands on those and you will get the discounted prices
i bought the complete edition but still can't play the 2 new classes, don't know why.It says that i need the MOM to play them.
That's definitely not right, I would recommend calling Turbine on Monday regarding that.
Thats cool, just glad to hear you are joining the game. This game is great and has one of the most mature communities I have ever seen in an MMO and I'm sure you will be a welcome addition.
