To keep it short and simple, I have four words: "I like this game"

Now, I have been a very harsh critic to all games, I will, of course, continue to analyze the game but...man. This is what I needed, a change, a good change. It is like I went back to FF4 and 5 days and the graphics are now aesthetically pleasing to todays standards.

Well, I am still only low level (Newbie) but the graphics turned to the max and zoomed in behind my character, I enjoy the visual details. The game is not overly taxing and the quest make sense. I have yet to see the grouping capabilities if any, but...

The bad, getting the spoils of war and separate backpacks. I would like to see the separate backpacks in battle only, but a combined backpack for out of battle and a simplified method of separating potions and such.

Second, I would love more voice overs and speech. I would like to hear more games go to speech option for quests, make me listen to you. Sure I can read, but after a few beers, it does get taxing, guilty I am. Plus I am in the need of a good pair of glasses.

Third, the attacks, I hope vary more in animations later on. We are spoiled these days by excess, I know this, but I would still love this.  Should be an easy thing to implement, just add two or three more animations and better explain the combat system. I have a nephew who is six (or is he eight..man...) but anyhow I digress as I shamefully hang my head, a few more animations on the attacks would make a very big smile on my face.

All in all, its still beta eh. I have to say, I have not been excited over a game this much in a long time. Turn based idea is a great one. The game is aesthetically pleasing. The whole thing is reminisent of historic console gaming that tends to trickle over to the PC gaming industry, this also I like. All in all, I would not be a fair judge to rate the game thus far since I am still in Newb status, but I can say this, WoW is officially on the back burner for a while.

I am impressed

I agree with you on the voice part in quests. I really don't read the lines whenever I went to an NPC to be honest with you. It's kinda straining to my eyes reading in front of my monitor. I would really love if they add a voice feature on that. But maybe it would really hog the system if they add that feature? What do you think?

    The game is commercial...

For free to play games, this happens when they allow people to buy stuff for real money (Cash Shop/Item Mall/Premium Service, etc).

Atlantica has so much to offer, most people overlook atlantica as a plain turn base and nothing has to offer fresh feature in the mmorpg field... but i suggest you must try atlantica atleast for a week and you will see the difference of this game compare to other mmorpg

Ah, yes. Playing this game is also somewhat nostalgic for me as it also reminds me of the old FF games (not as old as yours though, since the oldest I've played is FF7). I am also very happy with this game, save for it's few drawbacks (and for me those are the occasional lags in-game and the lack of character customization options). In fact, I am quite content with the battle animations of the game. I admit that the animations when you first start is a bit plain (since you only handle 4 mercenaries) but wait till you reach higher levels, where the battle animations increases and sometimes even becomes taxing. Anyway, I have to say I like your review since you've really stated your opinions in an objective manner.
