Jagex confirms Funorb!

Ultradude111Ultradude111 Member Posts: 22

Funorb, in case you don't know will be a site owned and operated by jagex. it will basically be a minigame site with updates and games being added every 2 weeks. I hope it comes out soon!

Go to funorb.com to see for yourself

or if you don't believe me, folo the link on jagex's homepage at jagex.com (the reason I say this is because I posted this on the runescape forums with a mods permission and everyone was saying that I hacked the mods account)

I have some sort of bad news...i think it will be P2P.

    QUOTE

My company is looking to recruit an additional games programmer to our team, but our standards are too high for this to prove an easy task :-) The usual routes of agencies, CV searches etc just do not work here!

...we are looking to recruit a Java Games Programmer who will also fully design and develop their own games in house. Their final game projeocts shall be launched on our dedicated "Mini Games Site" which users will pay to play

Yeah...i found that a few days ago ....i hope some parts of the site are F2P though

I think that at least part of it's going to be F2P. If it is, then addictinggames.com and all those other flash websites will go out of business.

The notion that graphics, or anything else for that matter, are anywhere near as important as gameplay/fun is so utterly ridiculous that anyone who shares such a view should be placed in an asylum.

I'm going to have to disagree....Just because Jagex is making another flash website doesn't mean that:addictinggames, miniclip, etc will go out of buisness.  It's just a little competition, and funorb is not known about at the moment.  And other flash websites are constantly being updated, but i will guess that jagex will work more on the other mmorpg on that site - not as much the mini games.  Usually I don't judge things by there name, but a name like funorb will not attract many people over 11...

Read the article that AkaJetson posted. It's merely a side-project of Jagex's that only involves a small portion of the company, and obviously they're trying to target all audiences.

But either way, I'm hoping that MechScape or whatever the new MMO they're working on is targeted toward the 13+ age group.

    A fine quote from EncyclopediaDramatica:

Jagex, after losing a gajillion members, out of desperation, made some fantastic new updates.

    * Bounty Hunter! Where players are shoved into a large pit full of ravenous animals that probably aren't even real humans. At least 100 of these things viciously rip your flesh apart, and just before you die, at least one of them says "owned nub olol". Makes you want to punch them in the dick, doesn't it?

    * Fist of Guthix; sucks balls.

    * Clan Wars; sucks the shaft.

Ah, and let's not forget Funorb (or Fuckorb, amirite?.), a website full of shitty shit-tastic shit little games that weren't ripped off from other places. Anyway, it costs money to play the games. And if you do indeed pay $5.95 dollars a month to play this game, just be An Hero. Not even kidding here. Just do it.

Fun orb is a failed site, they keep mentioning it on the runescape main page because no one wants to go on it, and the only good games on the site are rip offs of other games, I’m surprised the makers of worms haven’t sued them yet.

Yeah I also noticed that they were advertising Furorbs's special feature which was "arcanists" on the runescape log-on screen. At first I thought it was a runescape minigame hahahah!

Then I found out it was a lame-old 2d arcade game.

They should scrap it and sell it for parts, like an old broken down car.

I even wonder why Jagex bothered making an "arcade" game when there are loads of arcade games all over the net! They could have made an First person shooter game instead. That would have been a challenge to themselves and JAVA but If they just did it, damn would they be so popular with a "java based online First person shooter game"

I asked that question too when fun orb came out, I cant honestly understand why they did it because their are tons of free and much more entertaining internet arcade sites on the net, they should of just stuck to what they were good at, updating runescape…. wait nm they aren’t good at that anymore either, but in my opinion they should just stop using java and develop their own game engine it would allow for more freedom in their updates and make them overall much more enjoyable.

Plus they charge precious money for their craptastic arcade games. That makes it double fail.

ps. aren't these online ARCADE games supposed to be free of charge?

I guess the jagex team missed that part, I think they forgot that their were other much better companies in that market, they really need to scrap fun orb.

  • BlisseyBlissey Member Posts: 515

If they just used their brains, they would have scrapped funorb and probably used that money to  send all their employees back to school.

You don’t want to play wait in line or count all the sand on the beach? You’re behind the times old man!

One would be a fool to pay money just to play arcade games. If I was given the choice  I would rather be willing to pay for newgrounds.com because they know the meaning of creativity.

  • acephaloidacephaloid Member Posts: 31

    The games are free

  • BlisseyBlissey Member Posts: 515

What I meant was if Newgrounds EVER charged fees, I would rather pay for them-since they have movies(flash), comical stuff, funny porn, games.....it's much more sophisticated.
