Armor and Questions

I was wondering, is everyone ganna have the same armor?

I do not like looking the same as other Characters   I know you can change the Color of armor or something like that, and that you can change your face so you have a better chance of not looking like everyone else.

Is this game more like EQ or WoW or maybe like FFXI?

Nobody has the same Armor, there is a Dieing System.

I doubt so. I heard about a feature in Aion which is not in the faq list for now (I think it was in the latest dev talk).

You have the possibility to take the skin you like in the game, and mix it with the highest level armor you can wear, . You can then wear whatever you like, without being limited by le level of the gear you need. High level gear with your favorite skin... hmmm Yummy idea.

No, you can dye your armor the color you want ^^

you can also take any piece of armor you like the most, and a piece thats not so pretty but has better stats, and make it look like the one you liked more, add some dye to that, and it looks the way you want. Some people will look similar but it shouldn't be that common.

Now, for the retards that keep saying "aion has nothing original" thats proof right there how wrong they are sincei havent seen an mmo with this awesome feature, yet

Their armor system is what attracted me to the game.

Guild Wars 2 is my religion

Also seeing how you can customize your characters height and size, armors should look different on, say for instance, a tall skinny character opposed to a short stalky character. The armor skins might be the same, but it'll look somewhat different depending on body proportions.

er... actually, LOTRO has something similar to this for armor.

However, I think this will be better as much of the LOTRO armor looks like something you would get from clown college. coming from a fan no less.

I actually have mixed feelings about the armor system. On one hand it's great because people will really be able to look unique. On the other hand... normally you can look at a player and get an idea for what kind of player they are. They armor they wear usually indicates their level, their strengths, their weaknesses and playing style.

Being able to choose any look you want independant of stats, unless there are some restrictions, means that this isn't really possible. There would have to be some sort of ID system to gauge another player...

Or not. Part of me really wants a game where you DON'T know how good a player is, what their class is or what their strengths or weaknesses may be. Unfortunately without being able to play yet I can't decide how far they are taking it or how well it works within the confines of this particular game.

Actually I like that you can't tell the lvl of a player. It means that you have to be confidant enough to see if you an take them. Otherwise it seems a bit weak to me. Almost as if you would only attack players you knew you could take.

This is the first game I've heard of, of the newer batch of MMOs, that they let you have customized appearance in PvP as well. LotrO and EQ2 you are not allowed to use the appearance tabs in PvP zones for the reasons said here. Unless I'm mistaken.

I think you are right about that. At least in LOTRO.

I remember reading somewhere that the armor skin/stats system will have some limits, which might prevent you from doing skinjobs on highlevelultrapwnwhateveryouwanttocallit armor.

There might also be multiple parts of your armor you can apply dye to (source might be some random interview video)

I was under the impression that PVP zones were more or less grouped into level ranges (with the deepest zone open to the highest levels), so that there would be a minimum of miss-matched duels... although I didn't check that before I posted this.

I'm looking forward to seeing how many 'hardcore pvp players' will get the weakest looking armor they can find for their max level characters and then pretend to hide off to the side of mass battles waiting for the lone fool to come running at them thinking they're an easy kill.
