Pros and Cons - for future players

Because Atlantica reached the phase of Open Beta it will be - hopefully - swarmed by alot of people. That's why i sugest people who played it in Close Beta, made a Pros/Cons list to make it easy for newcomers to decide if it's worth it - basing on the knowladge we posses.

Cons:

  1. No info on how many new servers will be added in Open Beta - so far it's ONE, which is holding... with little issues but it is ;)
  2. Graphical Bugs - generally made with older types of Graphic cards - the reason of those bugs is hidden in Drivers and sadly it's not possible anyhow to fix it. Bugs appear in things like: textures shooting from head (only on VERY old G cards) when you are in SOME (really few) places; PC restarts; blue screen; graphical card errors - ill say it again - only OLD graphical cards have those problems, and they are rather rare
  3. Rather slow Will regeneration rate - we will see if that changes
  4. Small ammount of possibilities to gain Stamina - we will see if that changes
  5. Small Warehouse :(

Pros:

  1. Quest System - even tho quests are very ALIKE, they kept me playing 12h only doing quest after quest... call me crazy... also they support you will loads of experiance and useful gear - while teaching complicated features of this game
  2. Battle System - possibilities to win battle are endless, making each battle unique. Also TURN based battle makes it far from just fressing keys in orders - i find it THE BEST FEATURE IN MMO RPGs ever!
  3. Mercenary System - much more fun then pet system, you have to keep up your Merces in shape and think of good team build to OWN everything around and not get owned to fast :) Mercenaries are very much unique with their role in party which also expands the fun of playing. Not all of them are possible to get from shop, some you have to persuade to join you, some will join you after completing Quest.
  4. PvP and TvT system - lovely :) especially when you can win battle with 10 lvls higher player just because you are better tactician or you are lucky with crafting and all your gear is +10 :) Battles look differently depanding on Merc teams... so basicly AGAIN you have unlimited possibilities of winning/loosing battle.
  5. Expanded Craft system - makes you fill in time when you get bored with Gring/Quest/PvP
  6. Community - very friendly and generally mature, also Guild and Nation feature make you meet alot of new people and joining them in forfilling similar efforts.

Those are my main Pros/Cons... And i DID not write all Pros i have in mind.

Game is very very Expanded filled with many fun features. Doesn't also demand much of free time - perfect for working people. Your rank and position in Atlantica society isn't completely based on your lvl. You can be lower lvl and still be respected and known by many players.

I hope this game will not get any major nerf in future. And I storngly recomand it to anyone who looks for something more then Grind Grind Grind Grind Grind

    My pros:

Fun core gameplay (the combat) which is a mix of the traditional turn based JRPG style and Ogre Battle

    Very deep game play.

    My cons:

Stamina reduces how much you can play a day to only a couple hours

Same community as in most free games, the very young and the non-English speaking.

Poor explanations of the deepness of the game.

Opening the boxes of stuff you get (from drops) requires tons of clicking.

Confusing to move around in (without the auto move)

R.I.P. City of Heroes and my 17 characters there

Thx for Adding something from yourself :) I would like to explain one thing you made Con tho.

"Stamina reduces how much you can play a day to only a couple hours"

No, not really. After you run out of stamina you still can play, but exp is decreased to MINMAL value you can get from specific monster, and drop rate is decreased as well.

On LvL 50+ you regen 1 stamina point each 10minutes you dont fight - so after leaving your characted on Auto-Craft and focusing on househood - you notice you have quite much stamina. Since i passed lvl 50 my stamina never got less then 50, and I was exploating this game 12h/day - due to much of free time I had.

Also Free Legue competition and sharing information on skills or monsters - boosts up your stamina.

Playing with Party in Shadow Dungeon make you exp really fast by the cost of 1 stamina point per 2 battles. AND in addition the stamina is taken from the person starting battle - means if you run out, your friend can start, and you even without stamina will gain max exp and max drops.

    Pros:

    1. Stamina system. I know that it sounds bad but it doesn't affect gameplay only make community more friendly and active.

    2. PvP and battle system. It is hard to make good turn based system but Atlantica probably made one of the best that MMO could ever have.

    3. Mature community. It is 1st MMO where is more mature than young players. It makes community much more better.

    4. Guild/Nation/Town system. Guild is finally union not individual players. You must donate money, make guild or town quest to help your guild to advance to higher level and gain GP. You can make Guild dungeon or nation dungeon and declare war with other nations.

    Cons:

    1. Many graphic bugs. VoK not playable in pt without AB. Missing shadows or environment.

    2. Hard to acquire town for new guilds.

    3. Box/crafting system. You gain items from boxes which makes that there is no unique equip and prices of equipment goes fastly down. You can't craft nothing out of ordinary even if your skill is 20 level higher that it should be.

I read your pros and cons and I think most of the cons will be taken care of in Ob except the box crafting system. I love to play this game and that is what matters to me most. Turn based combat is not about button smashing nor it is about clicking, it is about intelligence. This is the first game I am playing where PVP is skill and intelligence. I am quite sure this kind of game will do really wonderful in long term. No more boss camping’s and no more silly grinds.

What we have here are quests to level and PVP to test your metal. The mercenary combination and the skill choices make this game so complex. This game is certainly very addictive. I am really bowled by its presence in my computer.

As far as graphics is concerned, it is smooth, may not be the best but then again the game play owns you and then graphics really doesn’t matter much. The addictive game that it is has the guild and the town system and it also has with it the guild dungeon. I am just so anxious to play Atlantica Online again.

Not only the loot but your mercs also have skill sets that makes them special and the correct combination of those skill levels make them lethal , often more powerful than the main character. At around level 100 your mercs will go independent and will send you gifts from time to time. Some friendship level is required to get those gifts and mercs also will send requests which are excellent add on missions that will thrill you away. There is a merc room where you can keep all the mercs and also try multiple combinations of the same mercs or a different combination of different mercs. You can also arrange their formation during the battle and thus keep the tank mercs in front and the healers and magic mercs at back and away from the openning carnage from monsters or from your PVP opponent. There are even more features.

U can craft items that cannot be dropped like for exmaple: bloody knight weapons that are much more powerfull than the same lvl weapons. [ if u mean that same lvl crafters can only craft the same things the it`s correct but it isn`t much con for me;p ]

Same community as in most free games, the very young and the non-English speaking.

Poor explanations of the deepness of the game.

Not true community is mostly mature, and we have in it very active and helpfull ppl, just check the forum or try to ask something anyone in game.

Also after getting special stones - which arent very hard to get (wooohooo for that xD) - you can name your Merc. For example my fresh army just before the end of CB (when i decided to waste whole money to check on new build - since everything went white clean after OB lounch) was very nicely named:

    Main - ImBusy

1str row - IwantCar, IwantDog, IwantPC

    2nd row - ImBusy(main), TellYour, MomTo

3rd row - BuyYou, AllThat, Stuff

    xD

    Pros:

    - Unique turn based system (first time on mmorpg)

    - Quest systems are really challenging

    - Balance of Mercenaries that suit your build

    - Economy system (works really well and very balanced)

    - Different Builds

    Cons:

    - Stamina duration

Pretty much that's my pros and cons As for the glitches, that happens in a lot of mmorpg games and you need a better video card because a lot of future games are going to need high end video card so better buy now if you're running low on graphics
