R E A L I T Y CHECK from Kershner, Hamill, Ford, Fisher, and the rest!!!

http://space.com/entertainment/star_wars_040920.html

This is a VERY intresting article. It features parts of interviews with the actual SW stars, and gives a

R E A L VIEW

of what Star Wars was originally INTENDED to be. SW was never made with the intent to become a cult following. It was never made with the intent to withstand the PRESSURE   that current uber movie fans have put on it. And definatly NOT the pressure uber movie fans AND game fans have put on it.

"Some films can be endlessly dissected and debated. But ..... "Star Wars" was just ment to be fun.  "

"I remember saying things like, `Well, wait a minute. I just got out of the trash compactor. How come my hair's all perfect?' And Harrison (Ford) would go, `Hey kid ... it aint that kind of movie  "

             - Mark Hamill

"It's very disturbing. I have to take medication, and yet it still won't go away."

            - Carrie Fisher

"I remember the memos from 20th Century Fox," Hamill said. "`Can you put a pair of lederhosen on the Wookie?' All they could thing of was, `This character has no pants on!' This went back and forth. They did sketches of him in culottes and baggy shorts."

Lucas also successfully fought to keep the Wookie au natural."

           - Mark Hamill

"In the midst of budget wrangling and the studios efforts to get him to drop the word "Wars" from the title,"

           - Mark Hamil

""The only thing that worked was .................................That worked, the human factor!  "

        -  Irvin Kershner (George Lucas, or anyone who talks to him, FORCE HIM TO READ THIS QUOTE PART OVER AND OVER AND TAKE NOTES!!!! The Human factor made SW years ago, and IS STILL the same thiing that will make the new SW movies INSTEAD of relying on F/X!)

""Yoda's philosophy was quite simplistic. `If you get angry, you're gonna lose.' `Don't try, do.' He has a basic philosophy that is very charming. Not very profound, although young people consider it profound. I wish they would read more. "

         - Irvin Kershner

So it's OK to love "Star Wars," but the people who created the films have this advice for the die-hard galactic geeks: lighten up , have some fun.

[This part I found very intresting! It shows how little clue Lucas has. But then again, it also shows Lucas KNOWS his strong point is NOT directly producing, filming, a Star Wars movie. Creating the story outlines, yes. But all else - no. Basically, Lucas asked his film teacher to step in and directly direct, and produce his project, to take center stage..... while Lucas "took left or right stage."] -

Kershner, a film professor at the University of Southern California who was a mentor to "Star Wars" creator George Lucas, is the man Lucas asked to direct the sequel "The Empire Strikes Back," which is widely regarded as the best of the series.

  •  I am not trying to knock SW fans who are fans of the movies and/or games. Heck, I am a HUGE SW fan myself. (More of the movies, then many of the books, then the games.)

But I do other things in my life also. I watch and get into other movies. I play and TRY other MMORPGs. I read other books. My world does not non-stop revolve around Star Wars or SWG because there are other things also in my world. As far as MMORPGs go, no matter how much I like SWG, I still TRY other MMORPGs. And find there are others that I like and interest me.

To anyone who LIKEs AND DISLIKES SWG the same advice (not just from me heheh, but FROM the people who had seats BETTER than front row seats for all the SW movies - they were actually in it, actually made it):

       - TRY other MMORPGs. 80% of the known ones are listed in the list on the left side of the page.

       - TRY other things. Learn to scuba dive. Go mountain biking. Go on a picnic with family and the kids. Travel to a city you have never been to and check it out. Go to a state, or country you have never been to and check it out. Learn another language (you litterally will discover a whole new world!) German, French, Italian, Spanish, Mandarin Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Spanish, Dutch, Urdu, Arabic, Zulu...... just to name a few.

yeah those quotes came directly from the 2.5 hour documentary that came with the DVD set.  I was completley slack jawed when I watched that documentary.

You saw scenes and footage and interviews that had never been aired..ever...

Also..the current interview with Carrie Fisher...holy cow..the years has NOT been kind to her.  It looks like she gain 230 pounds image my thoughts of her in a Hutt Slave thong skirt are now dashed. image
