I was told by someone of these forums to wait a few months so AoC could have some fixes put in before trying it out. I want to know if it was any better or focus on WAR or WotLK?

IMO, they've got at least 3 more months before they seriously straighten out AOC, so I'd go with the other two options.
Of course, some folks playing AOC now would disagree I'm sure.

That apple might look shiny and ripe but the core is not.
The core of WAR and all it's mechanics have been fleshed out and highly developed for the most part. As for now there's just some minor fixing going on.
AoC has yet to develop a fundamental core to the game which makes it superior to what else is out there. They have the graphics, but after that it's severely lacking. Everyone who has played it since release knows that things aren't getting a whole lot better fast -- some may argue that they've taken things to an even worse level that old beta phases.
WAR obviously is prepared for a solid launch because it's been properly developed, highly tested and is entirely fun to play. AoC lacks all that WAR is.
The better choice for you is to PREPARE FOR WAR!
If you are a casual player I would say give it a try.
I am lv 49 and have had a great time playing thus far. It`s a great game for those levels.
However, I am a casual player and I play two other mmos in addition to AOC. This means I play AOC for 1 or 2 hours every few days.
There are a few issues:
1. Memory leak bug. If your map turns gray then you have to re-log the game as you are going to lag and crash very soon.
2. We still need a greater variety of meaningful drops/gear for all levels.
The grahics are ace, the music is superb and the PVE combat is nice.
If you are looking to play only one mmorpg and you are a hardcore player e.g. you could burn through AOC to lv 80 within a month, then I may suggest you wait until they sort out the endgame and check back in another month or two.
Soon WAR comes out and I will have to cancel one of my games. I have to choose to lose LOTRO, VGSOH or AOC. I can say, for what it's worth, that it won't be AOC that gets dropped.

AoC is in fact getting better. It just takes time. You know Funcom looks after their games, Anarchy Online has been there for 7 years, constantly updated and even getting a graphics engine update soon.
It's just that Funcom as a company wasn't ready for a project as big and as hyped as AoC (IMHO).
Anyway, there was this big PvP update promised two months ago, it's still not there, they are not very good at keeping promises... They are desperately trying to keep their players from leaving IMHO.

The game has gotten steadily worse since launch. They are very consitent with putting out patches that break more than they fix though. The big question right now is if the stock price or subscriptions are dropping faster?
Answer: Try it and you yourself will know.
It has not gotten any better, worse if anything.
War has a preview this weekend for around 150k people. I'm waiting to see what people say about that but AoC is just a waste of money.
