It's not. A PR team has to be pretty confident about their game to do a publicity stunt like this. AoC didn't have a preview weekend. In fact, I don't think I've ever heard of a game having a preview weekend -before- the open beta. It goes to show you just how ready Warhammer is.

I am really glad they are doing this. I wanna get in there and see for myself, been burned so many times now. This already looks like its not gonna let me down.
i got into the preview weekend download is almost done!!! i cant wait i'm all giddy like a school girl lol!!! bye bye 4plus years of swg and a year of WoW!!!
Im sure it will be fine. I usually give companies time if it isnt the best to straighten it up.
Same here but sometimes its just so bad at launch that its just impossible to wait. I really hope thats not the case here and from what little ive seen i dont think its gonna.
If WAR is like DAoC? is it like you buy weapons from StairMaster and run around going TooT TooT all day or stand inside a keep with heal bots, How could WAR be like DAoC gees.
the Preview Weekend is there to give some additional days of free play to CE and SE pre orders as the open beta is awfully short by industry standards.
If you add the week end days, you have a better comparison of days, if you add you can download the client in advance, you almost have a normal vanilla 2 weeks open beta. If you have the NA/Australian version. Cause if you have the EU version, well, we still know nothing of this.

Actually, AoC did have a preview weekend before open beta that was run through gamespot if I remember right. It only allowed the PVP minigames and the first 5 levels but they did have a preview weekend.

This statement is totally meaningless without taking into account how long the NDA drop and open beta actually is ...
Take WoW for example, the NDa was drop like what.. half a year before release? Wotlk's NDA has been down for a while already and it's still months off.
Now you have WAR with a preview weekend 3 weeks before release, NDA drop 4 weeks and one week "closed" open beta with a level limit of 20.

I think WoW is kind of a special case. They can't keep an NDA if they tried, there's just way too many people blowing the lid off it with data-mining etc. so Blizzard doesn't even bother.

How does this not apply to WAR? O_o
Not to mention before WoW datamining was in its babyfeet yet you can bet it's in high gear for WAR.
Trust me if you prefer PvP over PvE, massive battles that would put the old-school Southshore WoW zergs to shame and ya need something to hold ya over till Bioware's new MMO look no furter. Wrath of the Huh King?
The boss is grumbling because he is having to cut short his public beta testing to squeeze in the preview weekend. It''s a marketing decision, and has little to nothing to do with the games actual development status.

I can't tell if this is sarcasm or not.
Time will tell. I REALLY hope your right. I want this to start a hit, and stay a hit.
