Beginning and end

I was talking to some friends the other day and we came to the discussion of our first and last moments of WoW, and I wanted to see if any one else would share theirs.

My first character ever in WoW was a dwarf warrior. The experience for me was nice because I liked the game, I wasn't into looks, I was into fluid gameplay, and WoW had it.

But I can't forget this one time as that dwarf warrior in Loch Modan...

I think I was lvl 18, questing, and a total newb rocking a sword and board.  A rogue around my level approached me and asked for help with a quest, needing grouping experience I accepted the invite.

So on to the ogres we went, with little effort we punished them until we get to the cave where the quest NPC spawns, we heal up and we go for it. We kill the elite ogre with little hp to spare and find that one of the ogre's that were linked to the boss dropped a blue item. Not thinking and being a total newb, I didn't see him switch the loot option while we were busy with ogre's so he loots and hearths.

My last experience with WoW was attempting to practice what I preach...

I was trying to get a quest complete for an alt that required me to go inside Zul'Farrak to get a tablet. I was too low lvl to find a group and this alt was my "away from guild" alt, so getting help from my guild was out of the question.

I decided to help a guildless player out with a good amount of gold if they helped me with this task.

I found a hunter, who had ALOT of STR and SPIRIT, but they were VERY nice and cool to talk to. I had already planned on politely giving them a few tips when we were finished as I already had a hunter and was very good at the class.

After I got what I needed from ZF, she decided she would accompany me to the quest turn in.

We see a lower level player who was obviously inspecting both our gear standing next to us. I guess when he saw somehting funny he stated "Your gear sucks xxxxxxx" and "Wow, you suck".

Finding that to be rude and just dumb to talk about someone in a game, I defended her. Let's just say I was called what African Americans are called when a person can't think of anything else.

p.s. This thread isn't about hating Wow. Just want to know what other players first and last were like.

First time is when i go to WC with 1 of my guildies. As this is my first paid mmo, i dont know the meaning of tank, and with her being the more senior one (a mage) she thought both of us could solo the whole instances... needless to say we die lots of times, but i truly enjoy it...

Last time? On the last day of my sub, i fly and ride across the whole world, ridding into enemy outpost, going through all the places my war (main) have gome thru,  and finally at the end of the day, i park my toon in winter spring and log out....

Well my first experience with WoW was almost 4 years ago (in beta) so it's hard for me to remember, but what I always will take away from that experience was just 1 thing.

I'm kinda the default game tester for the guys that I play with.  Anything new that comes out, Pappy has to try to get into the beta or get the demo and try it out so that I can let the others know what it's like.  I will often try game demo's to see what they are like even if I maybe had never heard of the game before.  And whenever I do try a game, good or bad, I will give a review of the game on our webpage.

Well all good game reviews need to have a "catch".  The first line of your review should sum it up and give the reader a quick idea of what you got out of the game before going into all the details.  It's usually something funny or perhaps a cliche.  Well for WoW, I knew the instant I started playing what my "catch" would be.  The review started out like this....

Only Blizzard can get away with calling their game WoW.

very early in the game on my warlock, when I was still on my 14 day trial I had to do my succubus quest.  I was in a guild (highest level in it somehow) and a priest a few levels lower helped me do the quest.

I was alliance so my quest was in the barrens, on a PvP server.  It was amazing fun because the server was semi-new at the time and there weren't any super high levels, so it was just a 20 warlock, a 18 priest vs like 20 level 8-10 horde chasing us around.  it was crazy fun doing my quest and PvPing at the same time.

last moment? meh not many of time.

Everything creates huge amounts of negativity on the internet, that's what the internet is for: Negativity, porn and lolcats.

    Meh.

Bottom line is that humans in general suck.

Ppl in WoW inspect you and say things like "wow your gear sucks" just to put you down

Ppl in Eve gank you then trash talk you

Ppl in Everquest do the passive aggressive thing, they simply dont invite you to groups so you cant advance and have to quit.

All in all the friendliest ppl I've met were in CoH/CoV because it was so casual.

Its not the ppl who changed, it was the game.

When the game is all about gear, then it turns into epeen.

IMO WoW is too gear-oriented and not enough oriented around fun and content.

I agree with you for the most part especially the last line, people seem to forget they are playing a game. And really forget the main purpose of a video game. Developers seem to encourage the wrong type of fun without a way to offset it as well which was why I left WoW in the first place. It just stopped being fun having to deal with real life situations in a environment where I should not have to.

Short example, there is still players creating names like regginkiller(at one time a lvl 70 in a popular guild). That bothers me, but it doesn't seem to bother anyone else.

    @Pappy13 That's funny, but I totally agree.
