I saw an article saying they were going to begin giving 2 week free trials out this month.
Anyone have any news on this?

From reading the forums, my guess would be very soon. According to dev logs it looks like they were trying to get the 1.6 patch out before they started the free trials.....and the 1.6 patch went live this morning
