Game sucks- ok its got good graphics etc etc- the future of mmo's no doubt but they scammed loads of ppl with promises and not delivered them- i now know why they closed the forums of to the public on release and only gave access to ppl who brought the game- it was to make sure ppl couldnt see the millions of complaints from both eu/us forums about how bad it was. Game sucks for you sorry dude, i enjoy it Also all those idiots who claimed its only been outa few weeks- remeber how bugged wow was at release etc etc- what a bunch of poop- what where they doing during open and closed beta testing? and i played wow from beta and yeah it was buggy but nowhere near as bad as this- 90% of quests worked- all crafting skills worked- stats worked, world pvp worked and most importantlly gear worked and was alot more varied. Yeah i am one of those idiots, WoW has been out for 4 years and has had one expansion( the devs have been polsihing WoW non stop, and bilizzard has a lot of devs). Of course ultimately WoW plays better than AOC, and hence you ask yourself why play AOC when i could be playing WoW, cos there are no bugs in wow. Which is 100% correct, but that means that you should never play any new MMO cos they will always release like AoC did if not worse.
So to not compare it to wow is stupid- wow set a industry standerd, they dotn have to copy it exactlly but why break the mold when it works so well- they could of utilised loads of aspects from wow and had a even more popular mmo on thier hands isntead of one that's future is very much in doubt.
According to crossfire they have lost almsot 50% of thier player base and no doubt come end of free month they will loose alot more who will simplly quit for a few months or never come back due to the release of other mmo's and games.
I myself and a few ex wow guildies are quiting this game andnot bother ing to come back personally- we will do wow and eve again for a bit and then try stargate wolrds out in the fall. lol you think Stargate Worlds will release in a polished state, same as wow is now, you are deluded and will find yourself playing wow for a long time, up until the time you are so tired of WoW you will then accept the bugs in a new game, or wait for a game to be out for a year or so and then play it. Oh and i have 70 gaurdian and 60 PoM so yeah I know all about the grind and lack of high lvl content and 1 grind area- which is now so packed its hard to even grind to level-feel sorry for the ppl in a couple of weeks. Also the stealth nerfs are a real slap in the face otthe comunity. And with the way they nerf characters cause of all the moaning instead of fixing the others - both my classes have been nerfed and they wont fix things that wil ldrastically improve other classes
Class balancing happens every where
You have also been power playing Aoc as you have to high lvl chars, so when you complain about lack of content you only have yourself to blame tbh.
As it is silly to power play a new MMO (this is not an ideal world where games are released in a state where you can unforc).
Try lineage 2 or LOTRO that have been out a bit, you will be able to power play your chars and still have enough content to keep you happy, hopefully!
WoW has a lot to answer for, left to peeps like this there would only be one game WOW!
The updates for this game are coming at more than twice a week, which is pretty fast by anyones standard. Content will also becoming fairly quick as there is a lot which has been held back and is being introduced peicemeal.
MMOs are to last years not months, so if you fundamentally dont enjoy the game then you never will, if you do then enjoy it and are moaning about content and polish, come back after six months or so and i am sure you wont recongise the game.
The light blue shows how dumb you are. You accept unfinished products. If you and other stop buying into products such as these they will end.
No company wants there product to fail. So they make stories and claims of what their product will do and have or what not. If us MMORPG players stop allowing MMO companies to lie and spew out garbage unfinished products they will be forced to FINISH their games before releasing them.
That is all.
ROFL, the light blue shows how ignorant you are and also how short sighted you are.
You should go back to your console, i bet it is a Wii, and stop wasting your time browsing the mmorpg forums.
If you went through this post, please leave your thoughts.
Nice post. Sorry to see you go. I'd just say what some others are saying - I find the combat a refreshing change from other MMOs, because of the melee splash damage. I like it a lot.
Well after enjoying it for close to a month I've decided to cancel by subscription. I don't feel ripped off tho. i got to experience most of the game and what it was about. The game overall just lacked that addictive quality for me. I wanted to like it and be into it, but I just couldn't. It's just not my game. The only thing AoC really has going for it are it's graphics. Everything else is either the same old, not as good, or just bad. The combo system belongs on a console game not a PC MMO. It's pretty frustrating and boring after awhile. The OOC was entertaining thanks to no moderation whatsoever. (something I personally think is a plus since people just find ways to exploit the reporting) The pvp was somewhat entertaining, but had no system at all so it really just devolved into ganking. That's ffa pvp tho. Not complaining really, just disappointed there was no system in place at all. That brings me to my next point. AoC was not ready for launch. The combo system aside, this game really had potential to be something legendary, but we got a beta, or more like an alpha. I understand that MMOs are never finished, but Funcom just didn't care when they released. Long grinds due to no quests at certain levels, lack of zones, no pvp thought, a variety of bugs, and just too many core things about this game were left out. I really wanted a mount, but it's next to impossible to get it at 40 unless you're just in love with grinding. And believe me, grinding in this game isn't fun. So no MMO for me now. Going back to singleplayer games probably until I see an MMO out on the market. Btw, I noticed a lot of people knockin the launch. Imo, this was the smoothest MMO launch I've ever experienced. Just thought I should add that cause that was something FunCom did right. If you went through this post, please leave your thoughts.
Well said, it's basically how I too feel about AoC. It remains to be seen wether or not they can drag it out in time or if it falls into oblivion. (No pun here intended!)
I see much good and... potential. But its about half a year too early or so. I just fear they will be too lost in balancing and bugs that they lack the manpower to really bring all those missing parts to the game, but we'll see.
People don't ask questions to get answers - they ask questions to show how smart they are. - Dogbert
Lol I like the fact you get people constantly quoting that funcom are working hard and patching twice a week . Lets examine whats really happening...
We have some fairly game breaking/major bugs which have been present since release or just after, for example:
Constant CTD/BSOD/lag spikes/disconnects for some players.
Terrible FPS for many people - try some of the villa instances, they are terrible, many ATI users are struggling to get good frame-rates even on high-end PCs.
Female avatars doing over 25% less damage due to animation speed.
Missing content.
Broken feats and unbalanced classes.
Players and NPCs popping in and out of view.
Bugs trying to create groups and wind up in the same instance.
Scenery issues - players falling through bridges/mountains, getting stuck.
And what do funcom do about these MAJOR problems - not much - they fix freckles, incorporate dancing moves, add new robe designs, nerf classes that dont need it, introduce more bugs, make grey elites more deadly the higher you level past them, promise content for the future that should have been in at release, let goldsellers run riot and disable the DX10 support. WOOHOO.
This game has issues with it that should have been a PRIORITY to fix, but some of these issues have no fix in sight, its no wonder the game is bleeding customers. If Funcom do not start to re-prioritise the content they put into future patches this game will be in serious trouble.
In fact looking at these 2 per week patches so far they have skipped one completely and another has caused the game to be unplayable for a day, though they did reimburse the players a days play time.
I left the game today as I finally got sick of all the problems, I might return if it gets fixed but I dont have high hopes of that happening at this point in time.
This whole genre badly needs a good new title to come along because at the moment things arent looking good at all...
It is sometimes painful to get a group together through instances, zones, etc.
No voice-overs after Tortage.
The UI needs work in quite a few places.
The graphics are both a good point and a bad one in this game. Most characters look identical beyond 10 yards or so. Horses look ridiculous. Some of the dungeons are quite generic.
So many instances. I forgot how much I hate zoning into an instance everytime I go anywhere.
Equipment is ugly, and the UI to look at your equipment is horrible. Stats on equipment are hard to understand, and for alot of things people have no idea how certain stats affect them. The equipment upgrade process is completely random, and levels on equipment mean nothing.
EDIT:m I forgot the players poping in and out view the guy above mentioned. This really is annoying on a PvP server.
Things I like: I like the combat system. The last patch fixed the graphics stutering issue I was having. Some of the graphics are great. PvP FFA can be fun, for awhile at least. I love the character creation options. I take a different approach than most and try to make the ugliest MF'er possible.
The problems I have with the game are as follows: Almost non-existent crafting system. No PvP system at all. No in-game economy at all. Ya, that about sums it up. I'm going to try it out at the end of the year again cause this game really could be good. I think if they improve the flow of combat it might not be so hideous.
Needs a lot of polishing and a lot of work. Had this come out next yet I bet we would of seen a lot more subscribers.

While I agree with you, I think we can safely say MMOs are never truly finished products. But I get where you're going.
This is why MMO games get away with releasing early thanks to that "patches coming" mentality.

I wish I could buy a vehicle that didn't have problems ... eventually they get'em corrected.
AoC..... I played in Beta; I am playing now... I love it... I know they will get corrected what they need to do; I played DAoC and WoW for years... they are still fixing stuff Yes, I played EQ/EQ2; FFXI, SWG, etc. seen all the updates latelty?
I am in Warhammer beta; War doesn't even compare to AoC (at least not yet)
I am not sure why so many peeps decide to *vent* then destroy a mmog that they really haven't experienced or they are just too immature to realize that only Heaven is perfect.
AoC has some awesome gameplay...
any new game on the market or those INC. have the same same same...
all game developers have a deadline they can decide to either publish what they got or abandon the game entirely... and no mmo comes out even 90% done.. not even WoW or any other for that matter.
for those people that feel that your life happiness is based on a game ... I suggest you throw out the computer/console before you loose all your real life friends/family.
A game is intended to be fun if it sucks don't play it... most of us in these forums I recon have bought tons of games and tried... and a good portion even got for free... most of the games won't hold a person for a long time only a few games gets our devotion.. and if people have issues with AoC then simply don't play. However there is still others that has a totally different gaming experience... most people in these forums try to claim that the game is bad because of this and that... I've played lots of game through my life and most of them have/had bugs/glitches etc... I didn't go to the forum somewhere just to tell everyone how shitty the game was all the time.
I got over it and went for a new game.
The games are just products which we will try and use for some time as well as other stuff.
People uses way to much energy on negative thinking... and reposting hate/troll or similar topics all the time won't help you at all...
Mostly because a mmorpg only have about 850k members and which is a fraction of the amount of gamers out there... this site is dedicated for negativity I'm sad to see people still continue to start up new topics about thing which already has been mentioned.. make your personal review of the game but I recon most have done and since well most people is more or less not likely to read any of those I recon we will be stuck with neverending topics like this.
And we will see the same when the next most anticpiated game is released... it's like people have memory worms eating up most of their memory as regarding game launches.
Malvolentia, I agree 200%. I was enjoying myself but as I progressed into the game, the worst things got. Too many things broken/missing/bugged and the world feels disjointed (does not feel epic at all). Which is a BAD thing if you like exploring. I'd be stupid to pay for a game which was shipped in this state (worse than I thought!).
Make sure you try to take it back - I did, complaining that features advertised on the box were not in the game I bought, and that those features were a large part of why I had bought the game. They have to refund your money. good luck.

Dude.... enjoy the day!
I agree with you on a lot of points. I'm not in any way trying to bash funcom or AoC or bring it all down!
I'm simply stating my opinion on the game for others to view.
AoC imo, just isn't good enough to warrant "waiting around" and paying 15$ a month while they polish and fix the game. That's a waste of money.
We've been over that no MMO is completely finished, but AoC was notably bad in it's unfinished state. Too much grinding and painful gameplay to warrant me sticking around till they decided to bring it up to par.
And overall the game didn't bring anything new to the table besides better graphics.
