An efficient, quick, powerful, soloing class?

JammaslamJammaslam Member Posts: 265

Im coming back to EQ2 and downloading it at this moment actually (the 60 days free plus RoK is what did it)  I used to raid with a Brigand (this was before RoK) regulary but grew tired of it.

I did somewhat enjoy leveling the brig up but my question is, what class is great at soloing up to 80 (a combination of speed, safety, and power, and by power I mean being able to take on tougher than average enemies. )

Before I leveled my brig up to 70 I managed to get a conjuror up to around 64 or so before getting sick of it.  Im am currently considering a necromancer or maybe a warden or even dirge (possibly for later raiding considerations for the last 2 classes).  But my main question is in the title of my post.

Paladin was really easy to lvl.  I also liked playing warlock and assasin.  assasin I played before they changed the game (when you had to get to 20 before you could pick the class)

Try a melee spec Warden.  They are cheep to outfit, have movement buffs (especially nice for Fae) and portals, can buff their defenses nicely, heal themselves, have a power regen buff and decent solo DPS.  Just about the only thing they don’t have is an invisibility, so be prepared to buy totems.

You can try the necromancer class also. Ive havent had too many issues at all leveling.

Played : WOW, LOTRO, COH/COV, EQ2, SWG, and WAR.
    Playing EVE Online and AOC.
    Wtg for SW:TOR and WOD

    Wizard:

Have an overpowered damage shield (with talents), massive AoE for weak stuff, good dps for normal, and root/nuke for toughies. Pretty good on utility too - portal/evac. Oh, and invisibilty, since XP comes too fast and killing stuff without XP is frustrating.

I'd vote Necro too as well.

    Suggestiosns:

Concentrate on getting the highest level fighter pet spell books every tier. M1 if possible, otherwise Adept III.

Get the Tainted Heals AA ability (Necro -> Manipulations) Heals your pet for 18% health for every debuff spell you cast. There is no HP transfer from you to your pet with the standard Necro pet heal spell.

In the Summoner AA lines, there are some AA that also buff the defense and HPs of your pets too.

I can easily solo blue Heroics, and in the right situations white con Heroics, and I have a mid 50's Necro.

You can also try Fury or a Scout class.

My swashie was able to chain solo mobs several lvl's above his head with no problem at all.  Once you get life tap/power tap posions its even easier.  Couple that with good life/power regen food and swashies are a solo machine.

Shadow knights are also good soloers (Better with certain talents).  He was slower to kill mobs then my swash but better able to deal with unwanted adds.

    -Currently looking forward to FFXIV

-Currently playing EvE and Global Agenda

I'm trying out the warden.  Really like what I see of the game so far, though I'm not that impressed with the artwork they chose to go with for the fae.

Currently Playing: Dungeons and Dragons Online.
    Sig image Pending
    Still in: A couple Betas

I'ld recommend a necro as well.  It is an amazing solo class, you can do things that would require a full group to do.  I was actually soloing epic quests (though grey), but at 70 I killed Rahotep or whatever his name was.

When I was dwelling in the Light of Qeynos with a paladin me and a necromancer were able to take epics like the that power sucking skeleton in the Cove of Decay off of Thundering Steppes.  I believe that's the one if the ale fogging my memory serves me right.  The necro's had a corrputing effect and I now serve Lucan though.

As most have said the necro would be very powerful in this game.  After all if you have to run the pet can hold the line for ya while you high tail it.  It's more insurance than some can get.

Plus you get to take out a pet for dps if you want or take out a pet to tank.  It things like that giving the necro variety and you can keep dpsing as well.  With the conjuror ya already know all that though. hehe  You get to spend time in Freeport as a plus.

I'm taking advantage of that free time too.  A clever thing SOE did there.  Howdy to all getting there free time in.
