Another reason not to play this game

Turbine went and made barbarians unable to drink potions while raging.

What were those boneheads thinking?

They are clearly violating the D&D v3.5 rules, since barbarians are, in fact, supposed to be able to drink potions while raged.

Additionally, remove fear potions can't be used while feared, now.  Hmmm...so there is absolutely no reason to ever buy a remove fear potion now.  Only a fool would waste an inventory slot for an item that he can only use on other people.

Apparently, the people at Turbine don't want people to be self-sufficient.  They fail to provide an actual reason for this position, but they went ahead with it nonetheless.

Now, a barbarian must carry a cleric in his back pocket or otherwise he is completely useless in combat, and so is anyone else with madstone boots.

Way to go Turbine...nice job of being punitive towards your players for absolutely no reason.

Additionally, my friend who still plays this game also reports the following nonsensical change to the game mechanics:

drinking a potion now breaks the Combat Expertise stance.

As we all know, combat expertise has a HUGE cooldown timer.

So now AC tanks can't help the cleric by being self-sufficient and drinking potions.

    Way to go Turbine!

They either really hate clerics because their trying their best to make clerics babysitters...

    ...or...

...they really love clerics because they're trying their best to make sure that every group has a cleric.

So much for soloing or running in groups without a cleric...

Yeah the recent potion changes seem kind of bone headed.  Hopefully they'll get reversed.  But, just an FYI:  There is not a single quest in the game (quest, not raid) where you have to have a cleric in the group.

They also made firewalls not stack in most cases.   After an extensive debate on the forums it looks like we have somewhat of a consensus that it's against the SRD.

More than one blade barrier makes the mob completely immune to blade barrier when the 2nd one tries to hit him.

Some of the Monk's attack moves also drops CE.

On the plus side ASF doesn't work at all right now for spellcasting.   You can make a wizard/sorc in +5 full plate with +5 shield and cast spells with no failure.

Agree, they broke a few things with the latest mod. Hopefully they fix some of it. (See not always a fanboi)

I particularly think the change to make potions operate as clickies was a horrible idea....

Those changes do sound like poinless fiddling (although not using a fear potion when feared sounds reasonable, although annoying I am sure), and prime candidates for reversal. Any form of reasoning given?

Not really, I know the ASF problem in armor is related to the change to stop Cleric/Divine casters from getting ASF on scrolls that are shared with Arcane casters. (At least this is what was related in DDOcast)

I believe the potion changes are similar to when they made Lesser Restore usable by others, basically the addition of funnels to potions is essentially turning them into disposable clicky items complete with animations. Problem is now those potions are restricted just like a clicky type magic item is.

Heh, I almost posted a "Thank you for the retro- D&D v1.0 Weekend"  where Elven fighter/Magic users don't suffer arcane failure, because Elf is a Class, not a Race :)

They listed this morning for a patch, no doubt to fix that...

With the Fear Potions, can't you now use them on others?  THEY may be feared, but you can still use your potion on them, can't you?  [Before you flame me - notice the question marks!  I haven't tried to use them on myself or anyone else, so I am asking if they work that way]

Yep, you can use remove fear potions & remove curse along with a few other potions on others. Problem is now you can't use a remove fear potion on yourself while feared. While this change may actually be for the better & actually simulate fear I hate the fact that I seem to be the only one I party with lately that carrier remove fear pots & or clickies, I can remove fear on others but am usually SOL & have to wait out the timer when I am feared.

Another recent change that is nice is shrining now removes curses as well, came in quite usefull running my Monk through Butchers Path Elite & discovered Remove Curse is the one potion I forgot to stock up on...

I carry a lot of potions, but not fear, I just assumed you couldn't use them when feared, so spent a lot of money on the auction getting a Reaver's Ring, and then a Helm of Freewill. Higher levels is pretty easy to pop Fear immunity on a greensteel item.

Before I had immunity I use to try and range from an elevated position where possible, so if you do get feared you have a chance. Same still goes for mindflayers, shoot from range, retreat to somewhere you can climb up, so even if they do freeze you, they can't get at your brain.
