Moderation at FLS

I think it's time to get this one out in the open?

We have mentioned it in passing in a number of threads now - but it seems like a lot of people are having issues with the Moderation on the FLS boards?

Last night I stumbled on this thread:

http://www.burningsea.com/forums/showthread.php?t=28972

And in particular the exchange between the Moderator and the players:

http://www.burningsea.com/forums/showpost.php?p=348272&postcount=25

http://www.burningsea.com/forums/showpost.php?p=348284&postcount=26

http://www.burningsea.com/forums/showpost.php?p=348294&postcount=27

http://www.burningsea.com/forums/showpost.php?p=348730&postcount=34

http://www.burningsea.com/forums/showpost.php?p=349083&postcount=35

http://www.burningsea.com/forums/showpost.php?p=350428&postcount=37

And tonight, I logged in to follow up on the more interesting debates / discussions (I think anyway :P) at FLS to find this thread locked:

http://www.burningsea.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29337

I had figured that the Fanbois might make an attack on it - so I went to see what had finally prompted thread closure?

???

Hmmm...

I even looked back to find that quote the Mod gave... it was made on page 1 of an 8 page thread and was made on the 12th.  That would be two days ago?

Anyone else having issues - or should I just go see my doctor again and up my medication?

Nothing says irony like spelling ideot wrong.

    Yawn.....

This is nothing new. Even on the veteran heavy server of Rackham the fanbois will plead with the moderators not to delete a thread in order that they may discuss something. It's not as if the FLS moderators are discriminating, or siding with the fanbois. Quite to the contrary, they ban, delete, and lock threads on everyone.

It frustrates all sides, that is why the disputes between the games community and the FLS moderators.

I'm not on the forums there (haven't played since my first 30 days expired a ways back), but I'm hoping that "file a ticket" means click on a button under a post to notify the moderator about that post. Otherwise that'd be a really annoying process they need to fix. I didn't see anything wrong with the mod's responses on the first thread, and the second thread... I just skimmed it, but what I read seemed impassioned but civil. Locking it seemed heavy-handed, but I may have missed the exchange where everything went pear-shaped.

What I find interesting is the PvP rationale from some folks there. "Life isn't fair" is true -- but these are games, not life. I really can't think of any other game where you run the risk of being outclassed by the initial situation. From chess to rugby to horse racing, the deciding factor is ability, not levels or gear (or who brought more people to play).  MMOs seem to be the sole exception.

If that's what you like, though, then more power to you...

sumit a ticket means press the support button then one of the devs are going to check what happened. and yes they are higher then a Mod.

Too many people who knows it all and never be polite on other folks opinions get the threads closed of moved.
