mccain is your man if you want someone to reach across the aisle.
and there are major, not minor, differences between liberal and conservatives. black and white in regards to this countries future. immigration, gitmo, redistribution of wealth, mandates, taxes, war on terror, iraq.

Two years ago I would have agreed with that. We all know that the McCain of today isn't the man he was in 2006 though. He has since toed the party line and swung too far to the right to maintain support of many of the independents he once had favor with.

Sure, there are both. The major differences will likely never find resolution, but there are many issues that fall between the views of extreme conservatives and liberals, ones that the country isn't so diametrically opposed on. Issues where a common ground could be established and help unify the country. This will never happen as long as politicians use these issues as stepping stones and tools to divide the nation. Obama acknowledges this and has made sincere attempts to ignore party affiliation when a valid and viable proposal is voiced. He is the leader that will find enough support to take us to future prosperity while restoring our reputation around the globe.
McCain also spells bad news for international trade and politics.
In a global market which USA is quickly becoming more of a consumer market rather then a producer there is a real risk of a economical meltdown if he comes into power.

can you name some issues where conservatives should ignore their principles and progress to the center? how about instead of us "pregress" you guys come to our side. the side that founded this country and brought it to greatness. ever since liberalism took hold in the 60's this country has declined i would argue.
no stereotypes allowed, please. just some real obama issues and his liberal solution that I/we should adhere to,...and move to.

You have to be absolutely blind to think the #1 liberal in the senate is going to be the one to reach across the aisle. McCain has a record of doing it. Where is OB's record of reaching across?
Actually I found an article on how OB will bring us together.
