Wow this game looks so much like WoW.  Not graphically but the UI, the style of gameplay, and even the animations.  The tester even said it is like WoW.  I hope that they do some more to differentiate themselves.

Basic gameplay will be like wow, most likely yes.

Devs have to think in something "familiar" in order to hook new players, if players feel the game is too different to what they are used to, they will end up frustrated. And right now there's nothing more familiar than Wow.

That being said, Aion endgame differs a lot from Wow's endgame, with sieges, massive pvps and direct portals.

We can say Aion plays like WoW for the most part in the character progress, but adds the PvP and competitive enviroment koreans (and many of us) love, and many more improvements, like quest cutscenes, graphics (playable with a not so high end rig), and more.

Sounds reallyl good to me, wows gameplay is very good anyway, and if any of the games released or releasing had anywhere near its gameplay they would be doing as good as it is.

Actually it looks more then Lineage 2 as style of gameplay and animations and Lineage 2 was out before WoW. They dont have to do anything cause its different and its good like this.

I don't think so Daemon, and Im a L2 "fan", but the controls, skills and character progress looks quite similar to WoW's, L2 is point&click, pve grind and autoattack, while Aion is Wasd, casual orientated with quests+pve and skills based.

Im honestly, after 4 years of L2, a bit sick of all that and want a game like wow, but with a decent PvP system and the grouping, plus legions meaning something more than the group you raid with, thus why Im really hyped about Aion :)

Gameplay and mechanics looks like Guild Wars meets WoW.  Graphics obviously has a flavor of L2 to it and the character creator probably is inspired by CoX.

Someone has been answering my prayers.

All I wanted is a game that had GW/WoW's level of smooth animations and gameplay BUT with obviously better kick-ass graphics and better end-game and/or more choices.

And...just look at the armor, the toons themselves and the fancy spells! *faints* Ok, fanboy has to cool off.

This is my game. No doubt about it.

Yeah I understand the need to feel similar and easy to pick up and it is the best choice for them in terms of gathering the most players, but for me I always want something new and innovative.  I guess I always want a game that will push the limits and keep raising the bar for the genre.  I know that is a lot to want, and I feel like Aion will be able to pull off a very good game, and I will still try it out, but I think it will also lose a lot of players if it is too much like WoW.  I do like the end game if it is how you described.  World PVP and Siege warfare is much more appealing to me then Battleground style pvp and item grinding.

Interface being familiar doesn't have anything to do with innovation, you could say every interface released from now on will feel like another, almost everything has been done, but i'd rather pick the basics of gameplay in WoW instead of copying Asheron's call, for example, and I consider AC as a good game for its time.

You could say that aion's sorcerers have rays on their hands like in WoW, and that many of the skills have the same effects as in wow, or as in every pre-wow mmorpg, but there in WoW you don't set reactive skills to different situations, and in WoW you don't set combos you have to configure while battling in order to optimize.

That's what I saw so far in Aion, a Chanter changing his melee skill on the bar for a ranged nuke cause he was fighting a gladiator, so every time the chanter used his "lighting ray" he would use the combo with the ranged nuke right after, and ranger using the "pushback" skill everytime he advoids a hit, and that sort of stuff. That makes the gameplay different, while keeping it intuitive.

Plus yeah, the endgame is way more appealing than WoW's and something innovative, the beggining can't be revolutionary unless extremely fun, and then again, if it was extremely fun someone would have invented it already.

You have to buy it and pay a monthly fee, just like any other decent mmorpg.

On another note, I am really looking forward to this game :)
