After watching numerous videos from the PvP weekend, it suddenly dawned on me that I hadn't heard if AoC had world PvP in it aside from instanced battlegrounds.
Will there be world PvP on say PvP servers in addition to the option to fight in battlegrounds like in WoW?
I realize battlegrounds are an easy way to streamline PvP, but a very large majority of the fun for me in PvP servers is always watching your back wherever you go.
I also know there are keep/fort battles and such, but are these instanced as well?
Just wondering.

So basically, yes, you will have World PvP. How that will shape the worlds remains to be seen. Also as far as I know, the ruleset for PvP and RP-PvP Servers has not yet been announced.

In that case, I cannot wait for this game to release.
Thanks for the quick reply.
What do most people think of Free-for-all pvp worlds?
Personally I like only certain higher leveled areas to be ffa pvp, although sometimes in lower leveled maps you can't do anything about annoying ks'ers.
This PvP weekend only presented mini PvP games.
There will be a world PvP including Battlekeep raiding and Free for All PvP on PvP servers.
Can characters move freely throughout different worlds or servers( i doubt servers.)
I am not sure what do you mean by moving through different worlds.
I am certain that you wont be able to move through different servers tho.
One of the main reasons I have been following this game is the siege warfare where guilds will construct a fortress and at some point people will be able to attack it. You will be be able to hire other players to help you attack or defend as well supposedly. I haven't heard much about how well it works but the concept sounds good. Every other MMO I played the player made structures were nothing but a time sink that was just used for storage so this will be interesting to see how well it works.
LOL at the fact that I posted a similar thread about 6 hours ago and got no responce where as this thread has 8 replies already.
Well in regards to FFA PVP I am against it. I like RvR or faction vs faction kind of deals, though there really aren't factions for this game to have that sort of setup. Thats a major turn off for me. I imagine that eventually the guild situation will become very complex and alliance will form, I look foward to a system where these alliances become offical and clear in open world.
As for ppl getting wtfbbq'd by higher lvl player, I strongly hope they have a lvl range for pvp like in EQ2.
As for keep/fort battles, from what I saw in the video explaining these they are instanced I think. What I wanna know is if the battle is instanced how much of the acctual player created city can be seen while your just wandering around the outer zone?
Skeptical - have you played EvE online? that was a great system for both player created structures and player created acctual stations. But you only saw these things in action if you were in an alliance based in 0.0.
Should've played Shadowbane

There are nine (9) Battlekeeps in a huge zone called Border Kingdom. Thats where all the sieges occur. Or at least thats what I heard.
With all the negatives I keep hearing about, the only thing keeping me hopeful is PvP FFA. Personally I can't stand RvR and see it as nothing but a "Gank-Fest". That's right, FFA will be a hell of a lot less of a "Gank-Fest" than RvR. In every game I've played where anyone could attack anyone(Unfortunately very Few Games have this) people would usually just leave you alone when they came across you out in the wilderness. Sure there are those who do nothing but kill others, but the majority likes to play by the golden rule.
However with games like WoW with RvR, anytime you got anywhere near someone from another faction they would come after you 100% of the time if you were of equal level or lower. I honestly can't remember having a Horde player ignore me. Even if he was obviously on his way somewhere and I was trying to hide and let him pass he would chase me down and kill me if I was in his Realm or somewhere Neutral. Didn't matter if I was level 5 and he was in the 40s.
Also, I see much potential with FFA PvP. I'd much prefer that the game include the possibility for Crafting-Only Professions so that it included truely innocent and helpess players for us to play the "Hero" with, but even without this, I look forward to spending time protecting those who are lower levels either by myself or in a guild.
Quoted for truth. Finally someone with some damn sense. PvP Anywhere is the ONLY way to have an MMO. You have massive carnage from time to time, but mainly you have "Oh snap, I had better jack that guy over there!" In RvR, its a gank fest. Mass nukes for the win. Faggotry.
Not that I HATE RvR - WAR will have good RvR since its supposed to simulate massive gank fests anyway (Warhammer mass combat :P )
Well I play for pvp and world pvp is a must.
In the Conan lore it should be open pvp; a nasty world full of nasty people where honour and decency are rare.
You can play Conan style and have a semblance of decency, but my archetype is always Cugel lol.
Thing I love about ganking: the best pvp battles I ever had were usually mass battles started by some sneaky wee ganker who provoked others ( and their alts) who provoked random others (unlucky enough to be near the original ganker) who provoked others etc...and then you got pitched and bitter battles with fekloads of playas that rage all night. Stuff that Alex the Droog could only dream of.
Without ganking and hurting I don't get my cathartic release and without that...well, I may as well play a gay elf in LOTRO.
Just remember, I will hurt you and your friends. See you in June.

P.s. June wtf?! Yes, I live in Asia and so my Euro copy arrives about a week or so later.
