A game that people ROLEPLAY in: Dark Ages

Just as the title reads! A game that people HONESTLY roleplay in! It features 7 religions, politics in 2 major towns, a LONGGG history and backstory, as well as a very active and involved community! Granted, some players do openly OOC, but a great great great great huge number of players actively roleplay in everyday interactions and theres tons of roleplaying events hosted by the GMs themselves

 

Even better is there a Town that is 100% devoted to Roleplaying, and its enforced! Its a beautiful game and simply awesome for anyone who doesn't have a name brand computer!

Heres the rundown:

This is easily the best game out there, and I wanted to make a post to let anyone who hasn't at least GIVEN THE GAME A TRY YET, TO TAKE A STAB AT IT! Theres so much depth to it, its unbelievable. The screenshots arn't the best, but give a shot at the gameplay so I'm providing links before for screenshots (check them all out)

There are 5 classes in the game, but at Level 99, they can become a Pure Master, and get powerful armor, skills, and spells. Or! They can SUBPATH, and keep ALL their CURRENT SKILLS AND SPELLS and start at Level 1 again, and have a brand new class! Pure Masters gain impressive and powerful skills, to make them just as useful as a subpath! However, the possibilities are so fun and awesome to dream about!



Warriors - Great Bashers, main DPS class. Does lots of damage simply with strikes. Very easy class to level up, very powerful



Monk - They get a choice of 3 major animal forms. Tank with Draco Form, and POWERFUL combos - best choice. Kelberoth for strength increase, and auto-hit hp-based strike (best for masters), and white bat which allows you to become invisible. Fantastic class and very fun and flexible



Rogue - Stab and Slash, throw ninja stars (called secrets), or lay traps! You do all three, relying mainly on traps to get by. You solo constantly since you simply don't NEED anyone's help! You hit a monster to gain aggro, then lure it into your traps. Its a simple and easy process. Later at high levels, you blind tons of creatures at a time by laying an instant blind trap on the ground. Its a very awesome class with a great Hide skill and tons of traps



Priest - NOT JUST HEALING! Cursing, Healing Curses, Healing Allies, Removing Poisons, putting enemies to sleep, reflecting magic, adding buffs - The priest does it all!! Not a class for beginners but a GREAT CLASS in general! The boring chores of just healing are gone!



Wizard - The weakest class that becomes the strongest class! Wizards DO NOT JUST BOMBARD ENEMIES WITH SPELLS in this game! Your job is to increase the enemy's sensitivity to elements and your companion's. If the enemy is attacking with Fire, and your ally has a Fire Belt on, you will now DOUBLE the defense against Fire! Wizards aid in all matters of Elements! Not just area effect spells for massive damage, but defensively they are VITAL to scucess! At High Levels with the High Level spells, they are absolute monsters, and a Masster Priest/Wizard can easily solo anywhere in the game do to its sheer power.

PLEASE NOTE!!! There IS AN OPTION TO REGISTER AN ACCOUNT, IT IS ONLY NECESSARY FOR 100% FEATURES, Theres still a million things to do, and you can still reach level 99 without registering! It doesn't hinder very much. You will not be able to buy items for cash on their website, and not do major quest (which are not required for anything but stupid stuff) - The items on their website are ONLY FASHION ITEMS, and do not BENEFIT YOU IN THE GAME

    I uploaded some of those and took some other from the boards. To be honest, a lot of this post was copy/pasted from other threads I made on other sites.

     

    Guess I kind of failed at getting my point across on this board in particular, but just being me here and not pasting some script I wrote.. I'm sincere in what I say: The game really does have a vast roleplaying environment, with LOTS OF REAL PLAYERS who actively roleplay.



    Give it a shot and take my word for it, its free. Simply DOWNLOAD the client and play, do not try to register an account -- that will cost you money. Playing is free, an account is not (an account is used to sponsor characters for extra features such as bought fashionable items)

    I have a friend who plays this and it sounds like even more of a grind fest than WoW. Grind fest games don't really do well for role playing but I haven't played so I don't really know.

    I used to play Nexus TK, which was the older cousin of Dark Ages, back in the day. Both games were great when Nexon ran them in the early years. Although they didn't have spectacular graphics or combat, it was the communities and the way Nexon supported the in-game communities that made Nexus and Dark Ages special. I don't know about Dark Ages, but since KRU took over Nexus, it's gone to hell. Shame. As much as I enjoy a good role-playing community, I don't think I could bring myself to play Dark Ages simply because of it's very aged graphics, but that's just me. I always preferred Nexus' old graphics.
