I heard from a personal friend of mine that some uncredited source said that Vindi Games (spelling?) is demanding Blizzard get the code ready in a couple of months. Is anyone aware of this and if so, how much faith would you put into this rumour? Personally, I dont want to see it get rushed.

Yeah I heard about this two. The reason why WoW is being pushed is because Vivendi Games seems to be in trouble with money, so they want WoW released to help them out. I think it would suck if the game was rushed.
I found out about it here:

I don't know if it is true or not.

rushed games = no no. Too many games have been rushed and too many bugs have remained unfixed. Just look at Asheron's Call 2. Game was rushed and now it's community is prolly one of the smallest. Hopefully They look at AC2 and dont fall for the same mistake.

Well im in the beta and I can tell you that things are far from being done.
Yes the Code is solid and stable (On most parts) but much of the content is not in yet and class need allot of tweaking. Oh and im not even going to start with the economy and tradeskills hehe. Plus, Blizzard always had a "When its done" moto and they never released a non-finished/bad quality game so far. Last ive hurd from the devs was : "atleast a other 4 months" and that was 1 month ago. I think mid-december is very possible tho. (Sorry for typos im french).
Not to mention blizzard has a reputation to live up to, one of not releasing halfbaked products.
Would be sad indeed that trackrecord was smoldered, much of the hype about this game comes from it being made by blizzard and their reputation, in fact i would say that is their greatest resource, jeopoardizing it might be a VERY bad move.
Not that I expect a flawless product, ive seen to many mmorpgs to even remotely believe that, but at least one above average when it comes to being finished.

By the sounds of it, EQ2 is going to be released before World of Warcraft.
If WoW is more than 2 later than the release date of EQ2, a lot of the people who are ancippating either, are going to fall for EQ2.
Thats not to say EQ2 needs the advantage, it's a damn fine looking game.
Well.. if i was a dev in WoW beta... I would tell Vivendi gaming to shuv it and just continue the project without any interruptions... besides.. why would they release a half done product?? thats not like blizzard at all...

If the game hit the shelves tomorrow, the game would be ready. This game is done for the most part, all that is left adding the PvE raid content(huge instanced dungeons, dragons, etc.) And they wouldn't even need to add that until maybe a month after release.
I would rather they finish everything they are doing including the higher and end game content then release so they won't be pushed so hard after release to have it done when everyone reaches the levels required for some of the things.

While I find myself cursing Blizzard regularly about the wait for WoW, I would hate to have the game be produced unfinished. The wait is killing me, but I what keeps me waiting is the quality of previous Blizzard games. And, as someone touched on before, Blizzard has never released a game on the first deadline released, and thats a good thing. That means they are taking their time to make the game as good as it can possibly be.
Heres to the long, agonizing, expected wait.

Enoyls has already stated that the hunter class is to be placed in the next patch, raid content will not be released until the game is released. Also the hug instances and dungons are already there, good one is the dead mines, real independednt story line there you know.
There are a coupl of other things to add like tallent,s they have also said that enchantment skill has alot of work to be done on it.

Eh if EQ2 comes out before WoW.... EQ2 will be no where near the quality of gameplay WoW has. That game will be so buggy and incomplete is not even funny. Even if people did play EQ2 cuz it came out before WoW I bet they wouldnt play it for long once they find out the game isnt finished or up to a point where its worth paying to play.
People would pay to play WoW right now cuz its pretty much almost ready for release. Only a few things need to be added and balanced thats it. Where as EQ2 probabaly needs a ton of content added cuz all they are focusing on is graphics and stuff... and dont tell me they arent cuz they are... they even redid the models.... WTF!!! You dont do that stuff till after closed beta when everything is pretty much done with. They arent even in closed beta yet so thats like a RED FLAG to me.
Dont get me wrong Ill be testing both games if they both go into open beta (doubt EQ2 will) and buying both games to give them both a shot. But I have a feeling that WoW will be more fun the EQ2 will. For the simple reason EQ2 is a PvE first PvP last game(No PvP servers at release WTF is that?) where as WoW is both PvE and PvP.

im almost certain this is 100% incorrect. after this years E3 show blizzard claimed they had a lot of work to do to bring the game up to par. compared with almost every other mmo the pixel count for WoW avatars was at least 150% less. in fact, ive heard that they were going to try to at least double their pixel count before launch. also, i am not in the beta, however i have been told that while items are unique, the game is still rather cookie cutter.
i would mostly atribute the games progress to the fact that they are mostly leeching a lot of their ideas from other games. the quest system is a synth between DAoC and SWG, the combat system is a spin on DAoC, and the overall game play UI seems oddly familiar to saga of ryzom, which is already in open beta. I have to admit that i was midly interested in WoW, but the more i hear/read of it i become uninterested, and im willing to bet that Blizzards inability to produce anything in a timely fashion is really gonna hurt them here, because most people wont pay $30 or more to keep an account going with EQ2 and Wow...
Again with the graphics. Once more I will state that graphics and pixels don't make a game, the content does. I wasn't even talking about graphics, actually. I was indeed talking about the gameplay value of the game.
The gameplay is, for the most part, all there. Blizzard has stated that there isn't much revolutionary about this game. It takes the best ideas presented from old MMOs and tries to perfect them. $30 for a monthly fee? You have got to be crazy. Maybe for the heavy duty graphics and server space needed for EQ2 but that is a long shot at the least. Definitely not for WoW, though.

In my opinion it WILL be ready for release by november. The game is pretty damn good right now and only need very very few things added if anything. They just need to balance and polish pretty much. Only real major things they need to do is revamp enchanting and talents for the rest of the classes.
If someone in beta thinks theres something else that needs to be done for release tell me cuz right now I dont see it from what beta testers have been saying.
