Nevrax recently announced that they have acquired the award winning composer Bjørn Arve Lagim - the former audio director for FunCom.  Below is the official press release from Nevrax:

Oslo, Norway - July 29, 2004 - Paris-based game company Nevrax has scooped up the award winning talent of Bjørn Arve Lagim, former Audio Director for Norwegian game company Funcom. If you play games you have probably heard about The Longest Journey and Anarchy Online. Both games won numerous awards but as a compliment to the story, particular critical acclaim was given to the musical score and sound effects. Lagim is on his own now and his award winning style will soon be uncovered in Saga of Ryzom, a massively multiplayer online game created by Nevrax scheduled for release in September 2004.

"We are excited to have Bjørn Arve's musical expertise as part of the Saga of Ryzom world," Nevrax Game Director David Cohen said. "Online games are all about creating a virtual setting where people want to spend a lot of time. The right music is crucial for this experience and we have seen Bjørn Arve achieve that before."

Bjørn Arve Lagim believes that music is all about creating emotion and identity. "In games such as Saga of Ryzom, it's an important factor in bringing the players into the world and conveying to them what the game is about," Lagim said "I work towards creating music that gives the game both a musical identity and sets the tone."

if this is the same guy that did the music to Anarchy Online then I can only say congratulations. he is the master of ingame music and Funcom must hate to see him go... Or.. they are nto planning to make any more big games that need real music. Hm.
