It has a steep learning curve, but if you keep at it and ask a bit around it should not be too hard.

I agree with the above statement completely, but there should be one more thing you should know. UO has a newbie town you start in called New Haven. There is also a tutorial, that helps you get started and teaches you the basics on how to play and interact with others. The tutorial, by no means, teaches everything this deep and complex game has to offer, but it will prevent you from wandering blindly, trying to figure out how to play by trial and error. With that said, add it to the above statement, and you have your complete answer to your question.

Do the new graphics make the game easier to play? One thing I like about UO is the way you can arrange things on the screen but I dont like that their are no hot keys and the right mouse click can close your pack or paperdoll to easily.

Yes UO KR  has a hot key system ,macro system , and is overall alot more user friendly than the 2d version out of the box..

I find the 2d client much easier to play then the KR when it comes to that.  Maybe its just cause Im so use to it though.

You are probably right. It is most likely cause you are used to the 2d client. I was apprehensive at first, but with all the modern mmo additions in KR, the UI is much more slick and user friendly now. They still have a lot of work to do though, as the new client is still a little buggy.

Edit: On a side note, I shall continue to play the 2d client myself, until the new client is tip-top, and Stygian Abyss is out.

I agree about 2d versus KR. I am doing the KR 14 day trial and flipped back to the 2d because it was cleaner and smoother. This being said I hold high hopes for KR as long as they continue to work on it.

Are you guys insane.?  I played UO for five years, pre-trammel and up until the samurai crap..

It took me literally 3 hours to go out of New Haven because of two reasons.  I forgot where the teleporter was, and no one tells you, not even the tutorial.  The other reason is because there was a damn orc invasion in the middle of the damn NEWBIE TOWN.  Who puts an orc invasion in the middle of a newbie area and forces a person to react quickly as if they know what to do.. luckily I at least knew how to fight and whatnot... but as a new player.. come on.

I just recently (about 6 months ago) tried the game again.  New Haven and the tutorial doesn't tell you crap.  I remember, the first thing you always did was make your run to delucia.  Then you went and raised your stats, then practiced on skeletons and skeletal knights and bone knights .. well, as a fighter anyways.  I ran there and no one was there.  Obviously there isn't a big player base.. but I tried to go raise my stats.. oh no.  There's stat caps per day and they are hard to raise in the first place..  Then I went and got one shotted by bone knights.. okay, I remember them being tough.  So then I went out into the wilderness and tried fighting orcs and savages and ettins.. no a whole lot of luck there.  The game is near impossible for players who have never played the game before.  For all the vets who play, they should allow you to have like.. 3 gm's when you start the game.  And what the hell is with the ninjas?  I vaguely remember the neon hair and weird mounts before I left.. When I got to Britannia Bank.. oh geez..  what has UO done?

Ultimately, I didn't know where to go.  Where is all the new content?  I remember it being a little difficult when it first launched.. but now.. wow..
