Firing it up problems

in EVE Online

I am a first time user of EVE online.  I just downloaded the client for the 14 day free trial, installed it, and it began running.  Its now 2 hours later and nothing has come up on my screen except a tab down on my task bar and a background process called ExeFile.exe using 566,588 K of memory.   Is this how its supposed to be during the first run, or has something gone wrong?

    Kill the process and fire it up again.
    If that doesnt help, restart.
    If that doesnt help, update all drivers, esp. graphics.

    Runtime error after doing that a few more times.  After one final reboot it worked.  Thanks much.
