World of Warcraft is amazing ! But................

summitussummitus Member UncommonPosts: 1,414

I have recently come back to WoW and am having a real blast ! Its still one of the best game experiences out there by far...... but ...... one thing is a little sad and thats the people charging around calling people Nubs, Noobs and saying random stuff like stuff you Noob Nub and  &&%*%& ing Nub ,insulting peoples Mothers is another favorite of these people or calling random people retards etc etc and I'm sure the list go's on and on with other peoples experiences.

Ok I know you turn certain stuff of and ignore etc,but what a shame that we have to. I can only think of one other place that is worse than WoW for this sort of behaviour and that probably YouTube !

Anyways rant over and I still love playin it and am activley looking for a great Guild as I speak. I have teamed up randomly for quests with some really nice people too !

thanks for readin and

Peace Out

Yes unfortunately we have some ignorant people in the game who do nothing but spam trade channel with stupid stuff. Of course this happens in every game its just more noticable in WoW because of the fact there are so many that play the game.

I look at it this way the only time I really have to deal with it is when in a major city and I am only ever there when doing some banking or catching a flight so to me its very easily ignored.

Out of every 100 men, 10 should not be there,
80 are nothing but targets, 9 are the real fighters.
Ah, but one, ONE of them is a warrior,
and he will bring the others home.

Yeah you have a good point there ,I supose with 9 Million people playing it we should be thankful its not all of em behaving badly !

I think developers should restrict those words from the game, especialy the words noob, newb and nub.

But then people are just going to start making up more slang.

Insulting people's mothers and stuff is easily worth a ticket for the GM. I'd laugh if someone did that to me as I finish writing up the ticket :)

No idea what server you on, but being called a noob is rare and only happens in heated fights on mine.  Most of the time we call each other noobs in a playful way.

Or maybe it's an alliance thing, I wouldn't know.

  • EstrusEstrus Member Posts: 357

I personally don't mind that since it makes it really obvious who NOT to group with.

I must say WoW is not the worse, Youtube may be but I know that Halo 3 on xbox live is by far the worse place for ignorant phrases. There is not a single game you can play in matchmaking with someone saying your a b@%$# or I am going to pwn you, you noob. It gets really annoying after playing several matches. It does not help on xbox live b/c everyone has a microphone and it is said by voice.

It's easy to blame it on "those 6th graders", but it probably has more to do with their boredom of the game (actually doing quests/instances have grown stale for them), and the fact that everyone is basically anonymous...to them, it's not the real world and so they say/do stuff that they normally would'nt get away with...they live to 'grief', I guess...never played an MMO that didn't have a few (BF 1942 comes to mind...)

I made an alliance character once, true story, and within a week i had about 100 people on my ignore list for griefing, spamming, being a child, etc.

Reminds me of the runescape community, reroll horde ftw.

Yeah teh games so easy to play you get alot of people goin in and talking alot of trash tehy wouldnt be able to backup unless they hit the "Accept to duel" button.  Thats why i like more pvp centric games cause not as many people can talk smack unless they're willing to attempt to back it up.

Alliance....Horde, makes no difference and i have never seen how this argument makes any sense, as if only more mature or polite people roll horde!

You are going to get these sort of people which ever side you roll (i have played both) and whatever game you play, so i just take them with a pinch of salt. I see it more in the BG's from people that have forgotten that they are playing a game and think they are planning some major strategic military campaign, lol.

I will ignore and/or report anyone who is offensive, but on the whole i just tend to have a good laugh at their rants and tell them to take a chill pill.

It must be Thursday, i never could get the hang of Thursdays.

Some (but not all) of the people playing warcraft are kids.

    Kids call people names.

When I played UO and EverQuest on the Rallos Zek server, all anyone ever did was talk trash. It was more prevalent, especially in EQ, for the mere fact that you COULD attack and fight players. During my days, namely in EQ, people had a tendency to take things that were said and happened in-game to a personal level.

In retrospect, being called a noob in World of Warcraft is nothing. Still kinda bugs me though...

That Guild Wars 2 login screen knocked up my wife. Must be the second coming!

You said it, PvE centered games are so annoying because you cant kill all those people who are talking smack/spamming etc.

Alas WoW is for the younger crowed and you will find that you get ALOT of that behavior on the servers, there are adult guilds out there just have to keep looking.

For PvP can't beat a good FPS, I recommened Battlefield 2, we used to kick for foul language on our server, or sometime just hunt that person down and make there life hell for a few rounds :)

wow pve is still great due to its specialised classes. battlegound pvp is action loaded but can be frustrating when playing in random groups. biggest part of the community is sitting on its raid gear waiting for it to devaluate.

i recently returned and got hooked on the gladiator gear. but after i gained the second or third part of it i got bored again. maybe its because of the lacking competition based pvp ranking system or the outdated graphics..

anyway i am happy i invested my time in reaching a high pvp rank back in the days. because in contrast to the lvl 60 dungeon gears, it has not lost its value..

thx blizzard & a happy new mmo year to all of you

I find this statement nonsense imo since I know plenty of old Daoc players that turned into immature brats when they were playing WoW.

It's the restrictions that were on you in Daoc that prevented it really. I have no illusions plenty of the immature people I play with now were the "mature" people from Daoc.

Yeah we all know kid's call people names, some of them go to far though, calling complete strangers faggot's or retards or insulting people's mothers go's to far Imo. Also they do it because no one know who they really are. Would you say the same if they came up to you in the street and called you a faggot or insulted someone you love ?. Its not accetable in the real world so it should'nt be tolerated in Virtual worlds either.

Oh and in other news today the Sun went down.

Kids call each other such names each and every day in the playground. They just don't do it when an adult authority figure is around. Which is pretty much the same situation as in WoW.

The main difference between trash talk in games  like eq, wow and then the god of PVP UO, AC DT, and even something as Shadowbane (I use this game loosely) is that PVP ones (Not so much shadowbane, but using cause open PVP) take more skill and thought into what your actions will do, EQ and what not you cant really get KOS (kill on sight) by anyone so you dont really worry too much about what you say you may just get kicked out of a guild (clan or alliance, didnt play eq was in AC at the time)

The Crap talk was still there, but when did you ever see a football game on tv and didnt see any intimidation goin on :-P.  I can tell you many stories of family gatherings for the super bowl where everyone gets so into the game that crap talk comes into play, friendly and more frustration towards the game.  I fyou ask me i think its more excusable in a game where your putting your actaul time into it, where its something you have to build up and create and not to mention pay monthly for (even if it is kinda cheap, unless your a college student like mah!).  Times can be frustrating and what not, or your just a jackass witha  huge ep33n (basicaly means EGO).

All i can say is I'd rather have OPEN pvp so that if someone runs up and atackins/kills your mob and they tell you yer ghey i can just take my claw and gove it into his trhoat ot her than tell him, OH YA THEN DUEL ME.  Again my own preference to take care of teh lamerz :-)
