I'm going to buy a new computer. I would only like to know if the these specs are good? (No idea if everything here is relevant or something else is necessary). The site where I'm buying from can be found here (swedish site, but suppose the most parts can be understood even if you only speak English): www.komplett.se/k/ci.aspx

  • Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4GHz
  • Asus P5K, P35, Socket-775, DDR2

  • Corsair TWIN2X 6400 DDR2, 2048MB CL5
  • Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 500GB SATA2

  • Gainward GeForce 8800GTS 512MB GDDR3

    I can see hundreds of these threads. But they all show the best components or close to it. In that case I would say you obviously know what these components are good for so to feed you with OMG nice system etc. is just BS to me.

    That system will be just fine, not sure why people post so many of these threads but include the best components. It isn't like they could of all choose the best components by accident and say they know nothing about it but look at what I'm getting threads.

    To add to Bezados comment, after posting said PC specs and the place where they purchase them, 90% of the time they usually end up spending way too much after pricing out their "uber" pc, and I use that in the best possible sense of the word.

    Not that it matters too much, but if your getting a seagate hard drive (500gb and higher) make sure its 7200.11.

    nice setup, nice case. good things come in nice packages.

    'grats. have fun with it.

     

    and.. in a year or so you should be able to OC the shit outta that 6600 and feel like you have a brand new rig.

    As an answer to the Bezado (and some others): As you may see I'm buying it from a site which has this has a PC you can buy ready. Many others who are like me (PC nubs) probably do the same, this is the reason why the most computers are fairly good. However, I know there are some guys who know what the text mean and therefore I ask for the sake of safety. I don't want to know if my specs are awesome, I want to know if something could be better. If it's a good system you could as well not bother to post.

    And well, I'll be paying around $1840 for a whole computer, which will have all necessary parts as well as being fully assembled.

    $1840 seems a bit pricey considering it doesn't come with a monitor, keyboard, mouse, speakers.

    If I read correctly though it comes with 3 years of warranty/support? Might make it worthwhile, but still the same computer could be made under $1200.

    The dollar is really low compared to swedish krona atm so prices cannot be compared straight after currency conversion, also taxes are really high in sweden on products. (For example a new 360-game is about 100$ in sweden & new pc-games around 60$).
    Komplett.se is usually in the lower range of prices (bought my own pc there several years ago).

    Godliest: try www.prisjakt.nu for comparisons on individually priced components, but I don't think you can find that much better prices.

    you can get a better processor and graphics card or sli for that matter, but as i said it's a nice solid build and the 6600 is a very flexible processor and can usually overclock to about 3.4ghz.

As mentioned by JelloB2000 the dollar is quite low compared to kronor. I just searched google for a converter, suppose it wasn't updated.
