I played EVE for about 2 and a half years. I eventually quit because I felt I had accomplished what I wanted to do - been around the block in 0.0, been in BoB, been a pirate and so on and so on... and had great fun doing it all, by the way.
I think if I were to return I would start a new character, but is it worth it? I was always aware that because of the nature of EVE if you were to ever cancel your account you would 'fall behind' in the Skillpoints aspect. But I've never found another game that captured my imagination as much, so current players: do you think it's worth the time investment to come back and start afresh?

The new graphic update is incredibly nice. Gameplay will be changing drastically in low sec (Im in a pirate corp) once the new ships are more efficient to use. I been playing for about 3 years now and will not look back. Its definetly worth just paying the subscription fee and see whats new.
I think this is a really good question. My character is 2.5 years and I often wonder what it would be like to drop him a create a brand new one with what I now know. This will never happen thou and I don't advise it. There is so much new high skill point content that I won't abandon my current character, but I might create a new one to play along side him
....The only reason I haven't is I don't want to pay for two accounts
If you did start fresh, you would probably decide to reactivate your old account after a couple of weeks. Thats my guess.
Ive actually done this myself before so i can give you the pro's and con's of doing a new charecter and deliting your old one.
Pro's
- Its a new face and name.
- You get to experience it all again from the start.
- This time you know how to begine a charecter in the best possable way for your style of play.
Cons
- You spend months not being able to do as much as your used to.
- Your basically a Noob charecter.
- Earning money is harder.
- You may come to reret what you did [i did not but then again i REALLY thought about it first].

you may as well re-activate your old character. Depending on how long you played him for, you'll still be able to use him. I think the stats are something like the average character in game is a year old, so if you've got a 2.5 yr old character you shouldn't find it hard to jump straight back in.
unless of course your character did something horrific before he left... like the EIB scammer, in which case starting a new character might be the best idea...
