HricaHrica Member UncommonPosts: 1,129

We both have played WoW, EQ2, Guild Wars and Lotro. All Great games.

On a wild hair we tried the 10 day trial for DDO. We both are loving it.

We are playing on the 'Theilas' Server.

my toon name is "Vltava" and wife's is "Purplerose"

we are total noobs here, just give us a /t with any adivce, tips or nooby friendly guilds.

Well, The Sublime Permadeath Guild is a newbie friendly guild on Thelanis, we always have a low level group going

Permadeath means we delete our characters when they die. Most of us play normally as well in other guilds/servers but there are a few that have been PD only since their first week of DDO.

One thing you may have noticed already is that a lot of Pick Up Groups tend to just rush through the quest to the end, or point out every little detail instead of letting you find them yourselves and really enjoy the game.  There are plenty of guilds/players that prefer to go slow and actually PLAY the game and if you mention that you are new and want to go slow in your LFG/LFM you shouldn't have too much trouble finding them.

LOL...let em learn a little before you recruit them into your cult of psychos Bill ;)

Seriously though?  Perma death and barebones play can be an absolute blast...I would recommend spending some time learning the game for a month or two first though without the added ruleset, then give it a try (thank god for multiple character slots!)

Did I mention  we offer free haircuts and Kool-Aid?

My only advice is try and and get a muckbane early. I think that saved me a lot of costs and slimes die a heck of a lot faster. From Durk in the Leaky tavern he gives the quest.

You didn't mention the class you two play. Just curious is all.

Also if you two subscribe get yourself a copy of DDO on DVD so you can get the high-res textures. The trial does not offer the high-res files. In my opinion the high-res textures make the game look 100% better. If the two of you buy the codes online you can just get one copy of the dvd used or not to install the high-res files. I saw DDO at the store tonight for 14.99.

    Have fun!

"I'm  a paladin with +4 charisma.  I do d4 damage using my helm of disintegration...."

"Paladins can't use helms of disintegration!"

"Huh?  Oh.  Then I'm a black guy..."

(That's from Family Guy for those unaware.)
