Hi guys,

I resubbed to VG last Saturday and wanted to have some fun when I discovered that my gfx card is way too slow for this game.  My "old" gfx card had a glitch and I got another one to replace my broken one (warrantee) but this Geforce 6800 doesn't really deliver anymore. Due to the fact that I still have an AGP mainboard I decided to upgrade my gfx card once more and bought this one:

SAPPHIRE RADEON® X1950 GT AGP 512 MB DDR3

For the rest I have an amd 3200+ and 2 gig of RAM.

I sure hope this will be enough to play the game as I am quite anxious to see what has changed.

My apologies for the long post and thanks for the feedback.

Cheers,

Martin

Why post this AFTER you have purchased a new card?

The PCI-Express version works ok, quite good. Don't know about the AGP version, foremost the AGP being slower.

I run with almost the same setup besides with ATI1950 512 PCIe.

But I can assume that you will see improvements from the earlier one nonetheless.

I'm so broke. I can't even pay attention.

I have been checking the offical forums for a couple of days and I have almost the same specs as you except i have the 7600gt card which I think is almost the same as your card(someone will maybe correct this)and yep you should be able to run it fine on balanced settings and maybe a little tweaking but it should run fine.

If someone had came up to me in 1980 when I was on my Atari 2600 and said we will be playing games with thousands of people at the same time.I guess my response would have been,"but I only have 2 joysticks"

Well that was the best AGP card I could get so unless I bought a new mainboard and gfx card I didn't have many options

But again, you didnt answer his question.  Why post AFTER you already bought the card.  Need reassurance that it was a good buy?  There's not to many agp options left, so you probably did OK.  Although I hate ATI Drivers.

Yea... You shoulda waited to buy the card. You could have bought a DX10 card thats good and fairly cheap.

Well maybe I was curious to see if people with a similar card could play the game ok. I am well aware that AGP is phasing out but since I am planning on buying a whole new system next summer I didn't think it would do me much good to replace mainboard/processor and gfx card cos that is the new system already.

Yep I should have asked some information first but I am quite impulsive when it comes to these kind of things  :P  Problem with gfx cards nowadays is that you have to be a friggin expert to know which card is better than which.  In my days the number following the name decided how good it was; higher number was a better card

I'm not so shure that the 2600 one is better. Shure it is mention below as one of the fastest DX10 (AGP card) but that is not meaning that it would be faster then the 1950 one.

I play on a 939 board with a 4200+ x2, 2 gigs of ram and a 7800GS AGP that I unlocked the locked vertex shaders. I play just fine with high settings; I get the occasional hiccup but its not bad. Save for my dual core I think you should have a similar experience.
