The malaysian one should be accepting people around the globe.  So I think any number will do. Its meant for account verification purposes incase you forget your password.  Usually when I play an mmo in the SEA area I would use my Driver's License.  Not sure how good it is though.  I am waiting for it to hit USA.

That's usually for KSSN(Korean Social Security Number). It allows them to block outside players.

I'm not sure wth you put there, but for gods sake do not put your SSN down unless you're mentally unstable.

Just wait for the actual US release and play something else in the mean time or wait for Aion, which will blow the freakin' crap out of PW.

[ Played ] 2Moons, Anarchy Online, City of Heroes, City of Villains, Dark Age of Camelot, Everquest, Everquest II, Guild Wars, HellGate: London, Lord of the Rings Online, Rappelz, RF Online, Shadowbane, Star Wars Galaxies, Sword of the New World, Tabula Rasa, Vanguard: Saga of Heroes, World of Warcraft, Last Chaos

    [ Playing ] Everquest II

[ Waiting ] Aion, Age of Conan

I know that English PW is up and running, but it may be in beta. I do know a lot of talk about PW on the free to play (F2P) web forums

    Aion aye?...

eh I dunno, the pvp vids of PW just looked so much better.
Im really waiting for WAR but thats a long ways off...and Im growing bored of WoW.

--Edit, just watched some mroe AION pvp vids and well it looks better than videos Ive seen. Maybe it had to do with the fact that the video was a caster pvp vid.

just download it and play with the character creation options, that's all it's good for really

I downloaded PW, but apparently they have an IP block on certain regions of the world. Somehow, my friend's IP isn't blocked, and he's living in the US. But I am too, and there's NO WAY for me to connect--even with a proxy. I can't access their forums either; just the main page.

I'd say that Perfect World is nowhere near perfect, and I've heard that the grind is F***ING HORRIBLE.

The Phillipines version is IP locked. The Malaysian English version is for NA/EU players.

far as the game, it's a good game and I recommend it to anyone. However, the constant delays in development were just too much, and I started playing other games instead of waiting around for the game to be available,

This is a pretty good game, yeah.

But.. if you want to try PvP, you first have to enjoy the asian-grind fest :

What I liked the most in PW was the excellent character creator, which should inspire many other games.

I stoped because PvE was boring me, and because I discovered Shaiya, which is another asian F2P with open PvP in DAoC-like battlegrounds. Nice place to bus vs bus, or solo vs lil groups, or whatever you want. It's a bit more clones-war than PW, but the fun is faster, and this is what I care about !

    Syndy

i don't quite get how people say this game is a "grindfest" i played an english patched chinese version in beta to about level 30 or so, and i never found a problem questing for xp. sometimes i'd actually choose to grind for materials or loot even tho the xp was considerably gimped as opposed to questing for it.

i'm starting to think that if people aren't given free levels overnight, and have to actually play the the game, they're considering it a grind.

I totally agree with you.  Reading all the post it does seem if players do not get max level with uber gear over night it is a grind fest.  For example I only played EQ2 for about 3 weeks with the mini dings after a fight and instant health and mana replenished I went damn this is BORING!  I will have to say I had fun in beta of Shaiya F2P game.

    Played:  UO, EQ1, DAOC, EQ2

    Beta: G&H, Tabula Rasa, Shaiya

    To answer your questions.....

    1. Perfect World is very good but not for everyone, only you can decide if it's right for you.

    2. I haven't been in the open PvP yet as it's for level 30+ but I have dueled a few times. The performance is good but there is an annoying slight delay on skill use. This has to do with server latency and I don't think it's correctable unless they move the servers closer to where you live.

    3. For god's sake don't give them your SSN. Just make up any number and put it in. Make sure you write it down however as if you ever need to recover your account you'll need it.

Hope this answers your questions. My best suggestion is to try it out for yourself as all it will cost you is some time and nothing else. Only you can decide if it's a good game for you.

The game has already been released in several countries (China, Japan, Korea, Philippines, Brazil (or is Brazil also open beta?)). Level cap is 130.

The English Malaysian version (the one you are interested in) is currently in open beta (OB started November 22). Level cap of the OB is 105.

Yes, it is very good. It is a Lineage 2 + Wow mix. L2 gameplay + more than 5000 quests and more.

It's great. Well, there is a small skill delay, but once you get used to it's ok. Open PvP starts at level 30, and also features territorial wars and territorial ownerships.

No, it's not ok! How can you get used to not using the skills most of the time (because you'd get more damage from mobs waiting for the skill to charge or produce the effect rather than just fighting by using normal melee attack)? How about getting used to not using HP pots during battle (because the replenishing rate is so slow that by the time it recovers some lost hp points, you get more and more damage from mobs so the health bar is pretty much in the same point as when using the pot)? If all these would happen ONLY during PVP fights it would be kind of ok, but this also happens during the training/grinding...and that is not ok. I'm so dissapointed about this, I was really looking forward to play the game, since I like the asian MMOs, but for the time being the game is unplayable.
