Well I was really going to give this game a shot, but after searching around all over the place....
I dont feel comfortable giving even 20 bucks to the company that runs this game...the lead dev is one of the biggest idiots and failures I have ever seen run a game.
They need to dump this game so the community can REVIVE IT!
With this game 100% community run, it would be awesome

Im not trying to say you cant have an opinion however, KFR is not dumb, sure you might not understand some of his reasons but they are not dumb.
Try making a game with 3 devs, and see how far you get. I know this is going to sound like a total fanboi but please move on then if thats how you feel and look into a game.

Pfff your one to call KFR a failure and an idiot. How many successful MMORPG's have you designed in your illustrious life?
By that post you are implying that RV is successful.
only 3 devs huh? wow okay you got me there.
Im just saying it seems like this KFR guy is really mean and it really seems like he doesnt care about his community. Also from what I have heard there has virtually been no fixing of glitches and bugs. And after reading some of his posts pretty much dissing players for submitting bugs and glitches on the fourms, it seems to me like "well why give him 20 bucks and play a game where the lead dev seems to diss and ban the only community he has left?"
The premise and design of this game looks appealing to a gamer like myself, but if anyone can really give me a damn good reason to get this game ill listen. Im just worried ill buy it, the dev team wont say antyhing for a while, then just dump it...or ill get banned for some unknown reason...idk im just a little sketchy.

By my count, the number of all bugs, or categories of bugs, listed in the participants forum that have been fixed by the developers in the server side and client side software since game release last summer is 148. Also, in all those patches there were literally dozens of changes and upgrades put in that had been suggested by players. I also need to point out that although the population is small right now, I have heard of no complaints from anybody of griefers and exploiters in game for many weeks. The trouble makers who were banned or censored by KFR apparently spend most of their time now in their special IRC channel and in these forums. The rest of us are in game buiding guild halls and looking forward to finally being able to settle new lands and build towns the way we want to.
Player_420, if you decide to buy the game and choose to play on the roman side, look me up in game and I can certainly help you out. There is a large learning curve and many things you need. I think you will find the community very friendly and welcoming.
ahh ya know what? might as well give it a go, no point sitting here wondering. Thanks for the comments and sry for the "mean" post.
Althou I bet ya if the team did get more people from the community to help em out, it would improve the games status.
Whats your in game name?

Same as my name here.
I think KFR gets upset sometimes because he is under a lot of pressure. Normally you wont hear a word from the lead dev.
About no glitches or bugs being fixed, thats not correct at all. Im one of the 4 people on the testing team for RB and we fix bugs a lot. The problem again is, only 3 devs. Which means few fixes. But they do fix bugs, it just takes time.
They had alot of major bugs which have been fixed. The biggest one was a FPS bug in the release that was fixed in 24hours. Since then there has been many bugs that have been fixed. All from a mem leaks to better FPS to equipment issues, and invisible objects blocking. I mean the list is long. But like I said you wont see as many fixes as other games because they only have 3 people coding the fixes.
Also the fixes mostly fall into 1 or 2 guys areas. So it makes the problem worse.

Actually Kemarik you are very incorrect, there are still bugs in game that go unfixed. No where near can one say they have fixed every bug or even close to any bug reported, we still have many bugs in game, I dont even think I need to list them for everyone as I have in the past.
As for your comment about only banned players or exploiters complain then once again you are incorrect, I have shared my fare share of complaints on the forums and I still play to this day. Alot of the posts and complaints on this forum are from active players and/or from players that have played recently and are taking a break.
Do we all need to be fanboi's or all need to hate the game til it falls into the depths of hell? No, and nor do I see that too much from anyone really. I feel the false advertisement given BY RB is what leads to most of these discussions because many of us just want to make sure other players know correctly what state RV is at and isnt what they publicly advertise.
Anyways let the discussions continue.
"Actually Kemarik you are very incorrect, there are still bugs in game that go unfixed. No where near can one say they have fixed every bug or even close to any bug reported...."
I never said that. I am NOT incorrect. Read my post again. I simply reported how many bugs HAVE been fixed in response to the previous poster who thought RB never fixes any - an impression he got from the overly negative posts that permeate this forum.
The fact that in may the amount of posts in both (seperately) bugs and balance and errors and crashes outnumbered the posts in c&e and participant discussion by about twice tells you something about the game...

Sorry to say but you couldnt be MORE wrong. Its the other way around my friend.
Its 12k in the B&B, 8k in the Errors, 2k in the Support, 12k in the Grove, 9k in the Baths, 20k in the C&E, 33k in the Gen.
So even if you just do the Gen forms vs the Errors and Bugs forums, its still LESS in the errors.
Also just to prove you wrong, its STATED that there are MORE romans then freemen yet the freemen forums have MORE posts.
Your info is wrong, and your theory is wrong.
I dont know where you are getting your info from.
-MrDDT
I said back in may, not now.... You wanna know why? Because from may to october updates were only very sparse... that's 5 months of almost nothing, wich leaves a lot of time for C&E and Participant discussion to recover.
I don't know about right now since I don't play...
As for the barbarian numbers < Roman numbers thing, where did I write that?
<modedit>

I agree. Its not easy to make a game with such a small staff, and KFR isnt dumb..
He is, however, living on borrowed time. When certain people find him - he's going to have a bad day, and Kanoth is going to have to find someone else to defend on the forums.
The problem is that KFR is too "MY BABY!" -ed to let the game's creative control be put into the hands of the community. Most assholes are like that, and he is no exception.
In other words - he isnt stupid, hes just a prime example of an "asshole".
I dont know if he is or not, but I do know that he isnt dumb. He does things that he believes are best for his game.
Whats worse about all this is that you want to give more control into the peoples hands. But I tell you if you do that, you will find that people dont really know what they want.
"I want full loot" 3 weeks later every quits because they didnt really want it, they just thought they did.
Anyways this debate can go on and on. At the end of the day its KFR's game and we just have to wait to see how he wants to go with it. We can only hope that he takes some of our ideas.
-MrDDT
All trash talking aside, I have to disagree with that. If full-loot was implemented, the only people who would quit would be the carebears. The ones who have wanted full-loot all along would stay.
Likewise, the people who are just trying the game will stay, even if they dont like full-loot. Ultima Online had full loot, and I remember thinking "Oh geeze. I just got dry looted. @#$@#$@# @#$@#$" I wasnt happy about full loot. I was frustrated, but I gradually began to talk about it with the shaky fear you talk about a badass boxer.
"Oh Roma Victor? Its hardcore man - you dont want to die in that game, they have full loot."
That brings players who enjoy that sort of thing, AND players who just want the bragging rights of playing a game that hardcore. Those latter players can then find something they DO like, and stick with the game because of that rather than quit when the "leetness" period has passed.
Thats my legit two cents.
It has been clearly stated for many years that RV will be full loot. If the devs renegade on that then we might as well all go home now!
This game will be full loot in time and the "carebears" will go elsewhere for their jollies to be replaced by hardcore MMO fans who like the challenge presented by it.
If the above does not happen, then RB can officially close down the game, they cannot go back on such a stark and straightforward game feature.

I have no problems with full loot, so let me just state that. However, its never going to work in an MMO. Why? Because there is way to much balancing issues involved in it.
You bring up UO. Did you know that the numbers of people playing UO went UP after they made it so there is no full loot anymore? Im not saying thats the only reason why the number went up just saying thats some extra info for ya.
Yes UO isnt full loot right now just in case you were wondering there is a thing called "Insurance" which is a great system IMO.

It's been asked in KFR's sight, as he was answering other posts around it, and he did not touch the issue. He doesn't want to say no and elicit the same reaction you display just now from all those who came for the promised land of open PvP with full loot, but I've been convinced for a while that it is not happening.
My guess is that it's off the table. KFR wants maximum amounts of players and most dedicated players are the peaceful sorts now.

Yes bring in full loot and we get some of you so called " Hardcore " MMO players whose only joy in life is PWNING people in battle. I don't mind full loot but can you handle losing all your carried equipment in addition to losing 20 skill points? It was either a death skill penatly or full loot both would be too much together, so RBL chose a death skill penalty

By crafting more..... and training... how else?if we get those hardcore MMO players, they will leave very very quickly because of the lack of ability to go with the crafting side of the game.
And the end of the day, it's not what you want, it's not what I want, it's what is good for the game, and what is good for the game is lots of players playing it.
Which involves not banning players who play for 14+ hours a day, help newbies whenever possible, and generally try to have a roleplaying atmosphere to get people into the "spirit" of Roma Victor.
Yeah, I would think banning people like that is not only a bannable offense in itself, but is a provocation worthy of death, and is a detriment to the game in general.
