Anyone having game crashing issues?

My game constantly crashes when I go to any place that have to load up large amounts of player characters. Mainly when I go to mos eisley I crash. I don't understand wtf is wrong with galaxies as I never had issues like this in LoTR:O or EVE recently trying the trial, or even random free games I play on an occasion like gunz that is 3d rendered.

Did anyone have an issue like this and then fixed it some how? Memtest86 said my rams fine and freakin my gforce7800 is runnin fine.

How much RAM do you have?

  • A gig. I've played it on my older computer with 512 before though so I couldn't imagine thats the issue unless they've done something in the last year I haven't played.

A gig should be fine.  What graphics card do you have?  It sounds like your system is just being overloaded so Windows jumps in to prevent the game from crashing your entire PC.  Something isn't keeping up with the incoming information...

Sometimes, after I've left my client running all day it crashes. I typically play for a while, go afk for a few hours, come back, log a different char in for a little while, go afk to wash my car or take my kid to the aquarium or whatever, etc. If the same client process has been running more than 8 hours or so, it starts getting flaky. I need to start relogging more often especially before going into mustafar instances. I've been booted at least 50% of the time I try to enter one with a group ROFL. It's usually the progress screen gets to the end then it crashes to desktop.

One time I actually got in, did half the mission then got booted out to Mensix. Didn't even crash, the instance just kicked me. There are times when I really hate this game... I think the buggiest place is probably Mustafar.

O yeah, my comp is clean =). I know far to well about porn files and viruses gunking up computers after I cleaned up about10 gigs worth of temp files from my friends computer over the summer prior to headin back to school (and he said he had a girlfriend).

None the less I have a pciE gforce 7800 256mb graphics card. A little dated now I suppose (but still only about 2 years old).

PC-cillin, adaware, and spybot, along with windows defender are all on my comp and began to run once I encountered this problem. None of them run actively during SWG as prior I had issues with my firewall causing galaxies to crash.

Hmm....unless it's an overheating problem (CPU or graphics card) I'm not sure :(   Your graphics card is fine for the game.  Only other thing I can think of is possibly your power supply maybe crapping out or maybe it's too small for the video card??

Could always wipe out all your video card drivers and try some older ones (or the newest if they aren't).

  • Ok, figured it out. Terrible terrible Trend Micro systems PC-Cillian 2007 edition. This only appears in the 2007 edition as the way the system is injected will cause other processes to continually eat up memory to get around the active protection even when the anti-virus software is turned off.

The only fix for this was going through and changing the startup preventing the system from it starting up to begin with. Since I used to use the 2005 edition I did not suspect that it was my anti-virus at all, but I was wrong. Even when it was off it still ran behind the processes tree causing my system to crash even when disabled after it had started up in startup.

Since it was a trial copy for the month I uninstalled it after 3 weeks of use and have not crashed since the damn thing has been off my system. Thanks for people checkin in and trying to see if they could help.

(Kinda funny how the porn comment made me think about the gunk that runs secretly)
