Just play both. That's what I intend on doing. I don't really have enough game time to fit two MMORPGs into my schedule, so I figure I'll give them both a shot and see which one I gravitate towards. Honestly though, if WAR comes out first and it's as good as it seems to be shaping up to, AoC won't have much of a chance to make it onto my PC.
I personally don't want anything to do with AoC. It seems way to immature for my tastes.
And blood and guts aren't what make a game mature (Maturity, not what the ESRB dictates). Nor is using sex as a buff source....
Yes, you can argue that sex is a staple in Robert E. Howard's work and that AoC will have a M rating so that this won't be intended for kids. I just don't think it necessary to have it at all. There are many more facets of the Conan books to delve into without using this one.
AoC looks cool, they did a nice job of bringing something different to MMO combat. But WAR is really revolutionizing a lot of what RPG games used to be about...Mythic basically took everything we like from the genre right now and used it in some way or another, fixed a lot of the stuff we don't like, and added some of the most kick ass material I've ever heard about. I.E; Public Quests, Capital City raids.

Hopefuly i'll still be alive. RIP KOSTA, my cousin who played daoc but past away peacefuly before wow could come out even though he waited for it as long as he could.
War and aoc are rather different. Aoc revolves a lot more around being in a guild, an active guild that is. Where as war seems to go more for casual, just loged on for an hour, play style. Then of course you have war's rvr vs aoc's pvp/city siege. Last but not least, chances are one of the games will be delayed and/or get bad reviews =p but even if not, they are still different enaugh where one should be able to make a choice as to what they enjoy more.
I laugh at the comment about Age of Conan being a PVE game. Age of Conan is a game about mass PvP but it basically requires you to be in a huge active guild. WAR will have smaller battles but it can also be done more casually. I will be playing WAR, but don't be blind to AoC.

Look at AoC, look at WAR. I just don't see AoC having larger battles. Also, Mythic already has a large scale RvR game out, a game which WAR is borrowing from heavily.

AoC will have huge Guild vs Guild Siege Warfare with over one hundred people participating if it is small guild battles. The bigger battles will be around 150 to 200 people. I do not see this happening in WAR.
Personally, I'll probably play WAR, due to a few things. 1. I have faith in mythic. 2. WAR looks like I'll be able to have fun with less time involved 3. I think my computer would blow up if I tried to play AOC, and I really don't want to upgrade my comp for another year or two until the current technology stabilizes and gets cheaper. I.E. Vista, DX10, and quad core stuff.
But other than that, I think they will both be fine games. (hopefully)
my decision was made easier by the fact that my current computer is on its last legs and will not withstand an AoC beating. i cant afford a new one until the middle of next year. so that gives me a few months with WAR then maybe both...

WAr it is , but playing AoC also, just WAr going to be my prime game. One of my main reasons is i like to play a lot of different classes and well WAr has them.

what?
I hear what you're saying (and apparently, in the past, the Forum Mods have also ) but sometimes you just need to make a choice.
But, wait, let me try to simplify the decision just a bit.
1) AoC will suck.
2) WAR will not.
Does that help at all?

Once they're both actually finished I'm sure the decision will be much easier. I really can't see getting in a bind about it now.
Personally I'll buy them both and play them both (have lots of free time).
Then eventually I'll cancel them both... (the reason for that would be to much text atm).
Hopefully it takes mythic longer to screw up WAR than it took them to screw up DAoC.
oh and hopefully AOC launches a tad better than AO.
Its pretty simple really...
AoC is going to be a gear/pve centric game with some RPG style thrown in.
WAR is going to be a PvP/RvR centric game.

WAR it is.
Until you have actually played WAR, you may really want to hold those opinions...

um... why are you worrying about choosing between 2 games which have not been released and you've never played?
I'll play which ever one sucks the least.....
It will be a tough choice, and there can really only be room for one game at a time in my life (well, not counting EVE, but it sort of plays itself)
Just have to see how it goes next year.....

I'll wait until reviews are out for both games. But currently I like WAR more than AoC.
Let see if I am right:
WAR u can go pvp/rvr any time u want.
AoC u have to join a big guild to have a piece of pvp action.
Research both games. Make up you mind based on that.
If you're still having trouble making up your mind wait until both are released before deciding.
Or you can ask a bunch of strangers on a discussion forum to make up your mind for you.

don't do research its all ppls opinions! just play each game and decide for yourself.
you will see the choice will not be so tough after all.
die.
I will play each one and then decide which one I will continue playing if any.
