I know its fun for mmorpg.com to earn money, but i can hardly find my way through all the damn ads.

Sry, but its way too much, send a note to my mail when its been cut down by 30%.

If you dont understand what i write, ask a damn question instead of going into autoflaming-mode.
And dont read in stuff between the lines, i say what i mean.

I personally don't think it is all that bad. At least they blend in somewhat, I have no problem with them. Remember, they need to make money for their hard work too. I can't imagine the bandwidth this site takes up...

At least take off the ads that bring up, "A script in this movie is causing Adobe Flash Player 9 to run slowly.  If it continues to run, your computer may become unresponsive.  Do you want to abort the script?"  This has been going on for so long and it's annoying as fuck.  They should just remove them or get jpg/gif versions from the owners.

At least it doesnt have pop-ups or java ads.  I've seen sites where you go and you feel like getting attacked, all kind of things poping up right and left.  MMORPG.COM has lots of ads yes, but at least i don't feel attacked by them.

    Yes. (answering the topic name)

Yeah besides the "A script in this movie is causing Adobe Flash Player 9 to run slowly.  If it continues to run, your computer may become unresponsive.  Do you want to abort the script?" popping up on me every now and then (happens enough to piss me off).  And everytime this happens it slows down my browser.  Sometimes it makes my browser freeze.  It's just as annoying as any pop up ad imo.

This site has done a great job keeping the ads on topic and realitive. The ads blend well with the design of the site. I also in many rtespects like the ads because they often inform me of games I hadnt considered and often tell about trials for games I havent played.

Considering that every glowing review they write about every crappy game is basically an ad, yes.  Too many ads.

If they'd write an honest review now and then, or at least have them written by someone who's been playing MMOGs for more than a year, people might be able to take this site more seriously.

Then again, who needs to be taken seriously as long as the ad revenues are pouring in?

I don't care much about there being too many adds but however I agree with Bley 100% that script thing is very annoying and sometimes my browser crashes in the middle of me typing a post because of it and I do have a pretty decent computer.

Meh.  The ads are a bit over the top, but I've seen worse.  What pisses me off are the pop up ads that appear when you move your mouse over a banner to get to somewhere else.  They're not even in a normal window and you have to take time to find the "close" button.  Gamespy pulls a lot of that shit.  Whoever came up with that bit of genius needs to be shot.

At least there's not that many here.  One thing to be thankful for.

Guild Wars is still an MMO.

After they introduced that buggy Flash ad, I got Adblock Plus. So my answer is: No, the site can't be any more jammed with ads. The most I'll ever see is zero.

If they want my help in paying the bills, they can stop using buggy flash ads.

With a maximum of three advertisements to a page, no, this site is by no means overrun with ads.

I do n't feel that there are too many , just many of them are buggy and freeze the computers.

I have been to sites where displaying ads was the goal of the web site.

The site opens and you are bombarded with ads!  Pop-ups and so on.   Some have so many ads it is extremely difficult to find the articles!   Sites like those really have one primary business goal, displaying ads!

I do not see that running ads is the business goal of mmorpg.

Here it seems to only be a means to continue to run and grow a business which is to provide a well run site where players can come together and moan and groan, read and learn, and in some small way feel they are participating.

I do not find the ads to intrusive.  The only ones that I found annoying were the ones wanting acrobat reader.  That pig of a 8.01 software will never get close to my PC.    I deal with it's SDK at work and.....well that's for a different thread.

Anyway....hopefully it is you and I that are the ones that truely benefit from the money MMORPG makes on the ads because that means they can continue to pay their  programmers, hardware costs, building lease, staff, writers, janitors, electric bills, water bills, and on and on continuing to provide us with a very informative and interacting site.

If any of you can name me 1 site that even comes close to what MMORPG does for it's customers please pm me.

..just wanted to add that I bet the staff wishes they have MORE screen space
