Vanguard: Saga of Heroes: Server Merge

SzarkSzark News ManagerMember Posts: 4,420

SOE has announced the successful merger of four of Vanguard's servers into the new Xeth server, and the continuation of the server merge process today as they merge four more servers into Seradon.

The Xeth Server is Live!

The very first server merge is complete, and Xeth is up and running! Log in and join the growing crowd. Meet new friends, beat your foes, and enjoy your new home on Xeth!

The rest of the server merges will continue as scheduled. Beginning Wednesday, August 29th at 12:01 AM PDT, the following servers will be brought down for approximately 7-12 hours.

  • Targonor
  • Florendyl
  • Flamehammer
  • Shidreth

At some time after 7:00 AM PDT, these servers will be removed from the game and reformed as Seradon.

As many of you know, we experienced some difficulty today with the first merge. We thank you for your patience and understanding, and I'm sure the servers that have not merged yet are thankful also.

With all the time and hope that people put into this game it's so sad to see this already happening.

It is too bad.  This game still has a lot to offer but it got off to a bad start.  All games need a good community and with the server merge I’m starting to see that.  Even tho its only a day old the new server is full of people and groups can be found everywhere.  I think this is  a good step, get people together enjoying the game then when the word of mouth gets out on how good the game is, open new servers.

If your thinking about getting the game, now is the time.

I just resubbed to VG last night and started playing on Xeth. The server merge seemed to be pretty smooth and chat channels were alive.

If it went so smooth, why did the person that was talking about the merges in the article say:

Sounds like they had some "Issues" with it?

edit:  I just looked over the VG official forums and there are some problems with the wrrong people keeping names, trial accounts buying up all the plots, issues with clicking on mail boxes, NPC's and other objects and they are being reported as too far away and unusable, and too many other issues to list here....

only issues was with naming.  it took the systems longer to work around it, making sure the oldest toon kept its name,

a 4:1 downsize consolidation is pretty significant.  But if it means each server set is full of players that's a good thing.

mmcguire2 don't take this as trying to start an argument, but I was JUST on the official vanguard forums and all the things I just mentioned are there and people are saying they did not have those issues till AFTER the merge.  Also there was another bug that that apparently was corrected before the merges with storage boxes not showing the right amount of items that has starting to pop up again after the merges.  So no, naming issues were not the only issues.  If you don't believe what i'm saying feel free to go over to the official VG forums and look....

Vanguard was made of fail as soon as they sold out.

People always have things all turned upside down. The game was sold BECAUSE it was a failure :)

aye, 5 years and 30 million dropped into development.......where is the 30million? I think because of this, when SoE obtained VG, they fired the sigil employes (except Brad)  and Jeff, to do what was best for the game they bought. Microsoft put up the 30 million, after four years finnaly gave up on the dev team and cut their losses, big losses. I am sure SoE didn't buy it for what was "put" into the game or the devs pockets

end of the day, who cares! i play the game for what it is not how much it cost. if someone spends 100 billion on a game that i dont like i still wont play it. so if they spent 30 million or 100 quid i dont care. i like the game and am having a blast on it. and just to point out some of the issues they had were there just before the patch. the merger is a good thing no matter how you like to look at it. keep it up SOE :)

For me the only issue was the merger took longer than they said, I have had no issues since the game came up and I haven’t talked to anyone who has.

ok i understand now mmcguire2, YOU personally haven't had any experience with other issues since the merge.  I got it now
