I didn't even finish the whole thing, it was painful to watch, that would be so very embarassing, his movies may be no good, but I have to say I feel bad for him.

Don't you worry little buddy. You're dealing with a man of honor. However, honor requires a higher percentage of profit

To paraphrase a sermon I once heard, don't pity the Devil for being in Hell. This man is a monster, think of the damage he's done to the horror and videogame-to-movie genres. He must be stopped.

As I understand it, there's a wierd law in Germany. If your movie doesn't sell well enough, you actually get money to compensate. I don't know if this is still in effect, but I hear it's how Uwe Boll made most of his money.

I hope someone knows something more substantial than the rumors I've heard, I am not an expert on German film law :P

As I recall, that pretty much covers it. He makes money by not making money. And he is famous in the same way that Lohan, or Hilton, et all are famous.

As much as I would loved to have been able to box him back during his "challenge", I give the guy credit for self-promotion. He's made a handful of movies, is more than likely well off, and he's famous. He must be doing something right. That, or this world is well, and truly, fucked.

Uwe is like a REALLY good incurable STD, you hope it will go away, hell you even pray or go to that crazy doctor person but in the end you are stuck with  a herpes/clap/Unknown hybrid and it makes movies.

I seriously lost hope after he cluster%#!%%'ed (fears the mods now with swear words..christ on a cracker) alone in the dark.

And for those of us thinking he's going to get it right, please PLEASE remember back in the day to house of the dead, and remember long and hard (it may hurt some i know), if you don't feel the urge to straight out murder the guy? You are a better soul than I.

I just want him to die.

Don't feel bad for him, he certainly doesn't feel bad.  He made millions off his failures and he seems to be enjoying himself in that vid .

Wikipedia explains how he makes money making flops  en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uwe_Boll

enjoy the read, makes you wanna move to Germany and make crappy movies based on crappy video games :P

I don't know what some of you guys expected from a house of the dead movie any way. That game had to have one of the worse stories ever and if it stayed true to the game it would be just as cheesy as the one that was made.

Regardless it's a good zombie killer.

It was also an arcade game mainly so if you are looking for deep enthralling detailed stories in a arcade gun game..dude wtf?

The point i am making is his direction of the movie...interlaced video game scenes mixed with movie was the most retarded idea ever, I use the word retarded properly as well, it totally retarded the whole freaking movie.

So yes, was a craptastic story, but Uwe made it even worse. It wasn't even a decent zombie flick, hell "Dead Alive" is a better zombie movie, and thats sad.

he is basicly exploiting a law in Germany.

  • daarcodaarco Member UncommonPosts: 4,275

I dont get how he can get away with the movies he make? I mean, someone in the production must say something?

The movies he make are good pointers how NOT to make movies.

Still, Uwe Boll makes Hollywood movies and im not........so he wins

A true house of dead movie would have made money. Look at all these scary movies making people scared of kids....

    EDIT

I didn't know House of the Dead was made in 2003. I thought that was made like before 1999.

Actually from what I've read He's not exploiting the German law because the people that make the movie are actually a German company unlike a lot of German directors who just use just use a German country  for paper purposes and give off all creative duty to a U.S. company.

    He's still exploiting it.

He purposely makes super horrible movies. Please head over to somethingawful and read the interview with the writers of Alone in the Dark.

You will shortly find out he purposely sabotages his movie scripts so he can make horrible movies. The original Alone in the Dark script was eerie, full of dread, and just plain scary chtonic stuff. Uwe decided to write that all off and add car chases! Yes car chases.,in alone in the dark..car chases ....

Will I provide a link? No quit being lazy, the site is easily navigated.

Alone in the Dark was neither Alone, nor in the Dark. That movie made me hate this man forever :P

I read an interview with him once. He basically implied that people aren't scared by the unknown, they have to be shown something obvious to be frightened by it. So the more you codify and shine a light on the monster, the scarier it will be. Wow....take that H.P. Lovecraft.

Also, printed in Electronic Gaming Monthly's November 2006 edition of the section "The Rest of the Crap", written by critic Seanbaby, described Seanbaby's own involvement. Apparently Uwe was going to appear on G4's Attack of the Show! and promote this fight by sparring with one of the hosts. He claims that, "Again, he's [Uwe Boll] a matchmaking genius, because everyone on TV's 3-feet tall. If you were watching [AotS] during the time I co-hosted, you might have noticed that I could have leaned over and eaten host Kevin Pereira." A producer of the show then asked if Seanbaby would come and spar in the host's place for the event. Seanbaby says that he trains in Muay Thai and jujutsu, and that, "Boxing is to Fighting what Hungry Hungry Hippos is to fighting..." When Uwe heard of this, he wanted to know Seanbaby's age, height, weight and fighting experience since he "learned he wasn't fighting a midget". After receiving said information, Boll chose not to appear on the program.

I'm so glad that Wikipedia had this bit, I remember that whole thing, and this is absolutely true.  Uwe Boll won't fight anybody that isn't a scrubby little half pint, he has refused to fight anybody of significant stature.

Your argument is like a two legged dog with an eating disorder...weak and unbalanced.

I'm not a member of the somethingawful forums, but I heard about this Boxing scam Uwe Boll pulled. Apparently Lowtax from the SA forums went in thinking it was just a publicity stunt and was quite shocked when he got in the ring.

The ruse was that anyone who said bad stuff about Uwe was invited to come fight him in an exhibition boxing match. This was essentially "Stop saying I suck or fight me" and most people in the news/gaming industry didn't take it seriously. It was viewed as very tongue-in-cheek.

Turns out Uwe Boll regularly takes boxing lessons. The other fighters were given "pointers" but no real preparation for the fight. Uwe also refused to fight anyone who took lessons in any martial art/sport or who had any fight history whatsoever. There's a huge list of the various ways Uwe manipulated this situation to his advantage so that basically he could pummel these people who would have no real chance against him.

There used to be a video on youtube of Uwe fighting Lowtax, and you can see Lowtax actually dancing around and doing poses from various videogames like "ready to rumble", showing he is under the impression that this is not a serious boxing match.

Basically, Uwe acts like a d*ck quite alot, and when anyone says anything bad about it, he either acts childishly or claims "you just don't understand" the medium.

couldn't watch more then 2 minutes.

but the reason this man continues to makes movies is because his movies are always profitable.

extremely low in budget, never get huge audiences or great reviews, but they always make 10 times as much as they cost.
