Personally I think Guildwars is Diablo 3 but hey, that's me. If Blizzard will do better than their former employees over at Anet....cha ching. I will definitely be playing. If Blizzard were to release another MMO, I would kinda hope it's an original idea, Not something based on franchises they have already, something new. Although I wouldn't mind Diablo or Starcraft as a persistent world. Just would hope that it's actually balanced. I'm sure Blizzard being the rookie team in the MMO world that they would only improve on what they have done. That's something all the bashers don't understand I guess, wow was their first attempt. Other publishing co's, gaming co's have had experience putting out projects and not doing as well.
*Kinda Off Topic* I remember hearing that White Wolf was going to make an MMO. Rumor? I don't recall who was going to help them make it, or if it was going to be Vampire: the requiem, or Werewolf: the Forsaken. OOOH, what if Blizzard is making this one for them?

they currently have the market dominated with wow, why would they bother releasing another MMO to compete with themselves. Not like they're hurting on cash... they are working on 1 I believe, but releasing it shouldn't occur until they have lost their stonghold on the current mmo subscriber base.
That's the most intelligent post I've seen on these boards in a long time. Nice. Really why would they compete with the most successful mmo of all time. Don't get me wrong I don't like WOW, but you have to admire the business model. It doesn't matter how hard the competition tries, and add to that games in general suck right now. I'm still waiting to see something that's truly next generation or even a game that's not a copy of the flavor of the month.
I started this post because I feel Blizzard produces great games, well polished, and entertaining. I would really like to see more from Blizzard. Maybe the reason that there games are great is because they are very single minded instead of just making game after game hoping one hits. Also, wish Blizzard would start some new product lines. They really only have 3 but would like to see them branch out.
Vevindi own Blizzard!? wow i never knew that i saw no indicatoion on the Blizzard site telling you that
I think that's because Blizzard (and Vivendi to some extent) have always made it clear that they're (apparently) completely independent from Vivendi on the development side. Vivendi provides the cash, and sees the return on their investments, and leaves Blizzard to do what they do best.

Oh, ok...awesome still. I'd play that game. OOH, I'm old school Toreador.
It is no secret that CCP is producing a world of darkness mmorpg.
But you are a bit in the past, my friend. world of darkness has changed sensibly in the last years with a full new system and full new vampire, werewolf and mage rule books and worlds... and yeah, Toreador do not exist anymore as a clan, I think there is still a bloodline (that would be like a sub-clan) with that name though.
Nowadays the 5 vampire clans are Ventrue, Gangrel, Nosferatu, Daeva and Mekhet.
Daeva are the ones more similar to Toreador, and the new toreador are actually a Daeva bloodline.
Of course how much of the bloodlines will be kept in the mmorpg, if it is actually based on vampire and if they are using the new world of darkness isall to be seen.

Doesn't change the fact they are owned by a publisher just like Mythic is owned by EA or any other similar combo :P The publisher dictates the budget and when it wants things released.

The I'd say Vivendi appears to be smarter than those others, judging from the state some games released in (DDO and Vanguard come to mind, though DDO probably had to come a bit early because Atari were extremely hard pressed for cash). I think one publisher doesn't need to be identical to the other.

err GW ~ Diablo 3? nah nah nope
Hellgate:London == Diablo 3 [wouldnt mind seeing blizz buy a 33% stake in flagship and help flagship make a Hellgate:LA expansion ; since most of flagship was part of blizz it would be like coming 'half-circle' getting funding from the ol homesake while still remaining mostly independent and definitely more well-funded]

I equate Guildwars to being Diablo 3 mainly due to it being out for sale and it just generally reminding of Diablo and Diablo II.
While some may say Hellgate is Diablo because it's being created by particular people who played a big role in blizzards history, I beg to differ mainly because I haven't played it. When I do maybe I'll change my mind. Remember me saying personally? For that matter,is it even out? Thought it wasn't coming out till Oct? Well with that said, I can't say that a game that isn't even out yet is Diablo 3 because with that logic Diablo 3 will be Diablo 3 which will be the case anyway if it's chosen to be made. Oh yeah Anet has quite a few of ex -Blizzard employees also.
Warcraft 4 I believe was confirmed that it was the next release by Blizzard after Starcraft II was released, however, it's not confirmed that it's already being developed. I read about this on a news article about a Europe forum mod telling the community Blizzard was going back to the original routes and taking Warcraft back to the RTS world.
Liked: Shadowbane, Neocron, Ultima Online(Before UO:R) Not Sure about: DAoC Disliked: AC1, Everquest 1, Everquest 2, World of Garbage(Warcraft), Eve Online, Jumpgate, AC2, Anarchy Online, Sims Online, Saga of Ryzom, Lineage II, City of Heroes, FFXI, Planetside, UO:R(and after)
With the long lived success of WoW, Blizzard should be rolling in cash, but what are they coming out with other than StarCraft 2 and a new xpansion for WoW? I know Blizzard has never been one to churn out game after game, this is probably why there games are really good but you would think they would be making a new game line or another MMO or something. Anyone know what they are up to?
Well, a new blizzard game wont come out for a while, judging by there past history of releases..they are going to let SC2 play out for up to three years, I dont think many people know if they are going to head in the direction of diablo 3, or warcraft 4..but that would be what it is. Or a sc/diablo mmo, maybe. But anything I say is just rumor mongering.
A new MMO makes a lot of sense, it doesn't take a genius to see that the odds are better than not that WoW's popularity will start to wane next year (at least in the US / European markets). WoW right now is in a position very similar to EQ1 back at the end of '04. Killing Arthas is a natural spot to plant a 'The End' sign in WoW and encourage their players to move on to other (Blizzard-offered) things if it seems like WoW's popularity is starting to sag.
I think Diablo 3 as an MMO would be awesome. D2 over Battle.net was very mmo-ish, and I think a Diablo-style design incorporating the lessons they've learned with WoW could be very successful. Of course, they haven't made anything truly original since.. well.. the original Diablo but as long as it's fun who cares.
I dont believe blizzard would be creating diablo 3.. although there is a possibility
but the guy who created the legendary diablo series is on a company called flagship studios and is now ceo of Hellgate london which people are debating whether its mmo or not. Nevertheless, its still the creator of diablo.... its gona kick ass i aint waiting for any blizz games

I highly doubt you will see "new" ( if your meaning groundbreaking) products from blizzard.
but you will indeed see highly finished and tested products from blizzard, that were new in the past but not well done from other companies.
blizzard capitalizes on this and does a bang up job of it
