You misunderstand they want to keep the game a mystery but they do need to show SOME info about it. They dont plan to even plan give a spell list AFTER release. Of course that wont stop gaming site to do the same but they want those who play it to give them something to explore with. They dont list every thing but just some things like how momentum will effect attacks, how skill system works and such.

Listen to yourself. If you went to the doctor and he told you some bad news would you look him in the eye and say..." your 8 years of medical school means nothing... I diagnosed myself and I am fine."?
He is a professional with years of experience diagnosing medical conditions. He takes the information at hand and tries to determine a cause... Will he do more tests... yes but it will be based on his initial diagnoses. I have over a decade of experience in the IT field working on servers and networks similar to what DF will have to be put on... I am making a diagnoses of the situation based on what information has been given. Could I be wrong... yes just like a doctor could... but most of the time I am right... It is what I do man... on a daily basis... when a network crashes I look at the symptoms and based on my experience I can usually narrow down the issue before I even touch the equipment. I am using those skills here with what Tasos has said and the signs from the progression of DF.
I know you want to believe DF is infallible and the perfect game will be released... All signs point to this not happening. I already told you I am so sure of this that I will make a public apology post on these forums if I am wrong. That is how firmly I believe in what I know.

I have to agree i rather missed the point of the OP, truth is i have seen a ton of in game and rl covrage of AoC... and 2-3 vids that are edited to hell and might very well be fake from DF....
There is no comparison becuase everyone here knows AoC is real they have seen it enough to know its a game. Will it be good or fun ?? Oh, I am curious. And what rl coverage of AoC have you seen? Most likely melee combat, and more melee combat, and more melee combat ad inifinitum. There has been no footage of magic combat, crafting, hell, etc.
AoC was delayed right before it was to be released and the only major footage is on melee combat. Yet you think that darkfall, which has released plenty of in-game footage for a game that has not hit beta yet could not exist.

Games like AOC have shown you need a beta of more than a year, probably closer to 2 years. And since the devs can't even make a guess when beta will be, this game is at least 2 years away from release.

DF will beta's will be as long as it needs but as short as possible. No they cant make an estimate because some of the things that are needed are out of their control and since they dont want to end up with another missed beta date their not going to announce it yet.
It is just so funny that the trolls crying vaporware because of two missed beta dates in here, now are running around in the AoC forums trying to excuse a second release delay with " they only need to polish the game a bit".

According to the fanboys DF has never missed a date yet because they have never set one. Aventurine definition for "coming soon" is 2 years and counting. No one would knock DF for being pushed back if they bothered to keep their community informed. They do not even put out official press releases about DF... The real question is what kind of company is aventurine... so far not a very good one.

Actually AoC and WAR both have many more videos dealing with their game than DF and there are more reasons than delays for people thinking this is vaporware. Sort of like the last time DF was invited to E3 they forgot to bring a working copy of their game, and could only "showcase" some pictures. Alright fair enough... just point out in the movie where it showed player health, any skills, combat mechanics, player UI, or item descriptions. Just show me that and I will concede they have release a game play movie. Otherwise all they released was a staged model interaction in a virtual environment. You see it all the time... you know the movies in pre pre alpha where they are working on model animations.
It is obvious you have not even looked for AoC or WAR movies... otherwise you would know that there are many on youtube and google video. Each one I might add that show many of the things I listed in my first line. Any kind of half hearted search would bring up several items about specific skills and combat mechanics for both games... items and more... I wait with anticipation for you to point out where in that ONE video it shows any of the above. I can list you 5 movies in the past month where the Devs of WAR gave all expanses paid trips to community site owners and let them ask questions all while taping it... they also showcased the game and spent a couple of days playing it.... course Aventurine has done that... no? Well they have showcased the game in a public forum right? no... hmmm... what have they shown again? right... mounted travel... a few models with sparkles... and a whole lot of excuses.

They have said they want to keep the game a secret. Of course since the last update if im not mistaken they said they were going to start giving more on the game.

BCBS, Genuity, and Godaddy are just a few of the companies I have worked at. I do have the credentials to question certain aspects of what they tell the community.

Based on my background and what I have seen beta testing MMOs I know when a company is spinning the truth. DF has been stringing their community along for about 2 years now... It will be a shadow of the game they first described 6 years ago.

They dont plan to even plan give a spell list AFTER release. Of course that wont stop gaming site to do the same but they want those who play it to give them something to explore with. They dont list every thing but just some things like how momentum will effect attacks, how skill system works and such.

I diagnosed myself and I am fine."?He is a professional with years of experience diagnosing medical conditions. He takes the information at hand and tries to determine a cause... Will he do more tests... yes but it will be based on his initial diagnoses. I have over a decade of experience in the IT field working on servers and networks similar to what DF will have to be put on... I am making a diagnoses of the situation based on what information has been given. Could I be wrong... yes just like a doctor could... but most of the time I am right... It is what I do man... on a daily basis... when a network crashes I look at the symptoms and based on my experience I can usually narrow down the issue before I even touch the equipment. I am using those skills here with what Tasos has said and the signs from the progression of DF.
I know you want to believe DF is infallible and the perfect game will be released... All signs point to this not happening. I already told you I am so sure of this that I will make a public apology post on these forums if I am wrong. That is how firmly I believe in what I know.

He is experienced and you just a guy that has played mmo's before just like everyone else on this forum so where does this make you an expert. So you are making speculations as i stated previously though you like to word it as "logical theory". Yet you know little about their how they are doing their network so how can you even diagnos it? I never said it was perfect. I have said it has potential but thats all. This game CAN be a huge flop but to say it is now is a completely idiotic statement. You havent even played the game. There is no comparison becuase everyone here knows AoC is real they have seen it enough to know its a game. Will it be good or fun ?? Thats up in the air , the game could be playing rather boring/shitty (as this push back sighting beta people says out game suxs hints at... then agian it just could be buggy ass or something too,). In any case, Funcon said , ' well we need to do somethign about this' and delayed the game that we all know is real.
In the case of DF atm no know can say the game exists... becuase there is not a shred of conclusive evidence that it does.

Oh, I am curious. And what rl coverage of AoC have you seen? Most likely melee combat, and more melee combat, and more melee combat ad inifinitum. There has been no footage of magic combat, crafting, hell, etc.
AoC was delayed right before it was to be released and the only major footage is on melee combat. Yet you think that darkfall, which has released plenty of in-game footage for a game that has not hit beta yet could not exist.

Ah you "indicators" arent all that accurate. Past games that had the same concept as DF have failed due to lack of time and/or lack of money which doesnt seem to be the problem with aventurine.
Im waiting for AoC to come out, simply because I don't see DF being released any time in the next 2 years (just my assumption) if ever. DF is more my type of ideal game, sandbox, hybrids etc. AoC however does have siege pvp, and although its nothing more then a WoW + Daoc = AoC, it should be good enough to keep me entertained until the next decent game is released, or Darkfall enters Beta.
I get the idea though, that if both games were released right now, DF would be better

Games like AOC have shown you need a beta of more than a year, probably closer to 2 years. And since the devs can't even make a guess when beta will be, this game is at least 2 years away from release.
DF will beta's will be as long as it needs but as short as possible. No they cant make an estimate because some of the things that are needed are out of their control and since they dont want to end up with another missed beta date their not going to announce it yet.

Age of Conan is still in closed beta testing, this is what their second delay? I guarantee you that the sort of concepts AOC has it will suffer further delays and will probably shoot for late 2008 release near Christmas. All the AOC fanbois kept coming here to DF forums and taunting us and laughing about the long delay that darkfall has had, now they come here to explain that it's ok when Funcom does it but when DF does it then it's vaporwere.
I havent seen 1 pvp vid from AOC yet, let alone screenshots of Border Kingdoms and player run cities. At least DF released a vid and screenshots that had PVP, naval warfare, clan settlements and mount attacks. All i keep hearing is the same trols over and over coming here and telling us how AOC and Warhammer pvp is the best and it will blow darkfall out of the water.
Also there is no DF video showing PvP or naval battles... There are videos showing models hitting and firing at each other but no mechanics are shown so it really does not prove anything. They have yet to release a screen with a UI. All we know for certain is they have models and some FX... The mechanics have been and continue to be a mystery. To date it is the only MMO that has been in development this long without releasing something concrete about mechanics... AoC, WAR, WoW, AO, SB, EQII, VG, LoTRO, EVE, and the rest have all had partial information about mechanics in the game by the 4th year of development. All the Devs have to do is release an in game video showing the UI and a few skills to debunk all the vaporware threads... funny how they have not done that yet.
According to the fanboys DF has never missed a date yet because they have never set one. Aventurine definition for "coming soon" is 2 years and counting. No one would knock DF for being pushed back if they bothered to keep their community informed. They do not even put out official press releases about DF... The real question is what kind of company is aventurine... so far not a very good one.

What are you talking about? They released a video at the beginning of the year that showed PVP, mounted combat and a naval battle. Granted it's one vid but it's still more then what I have seen from WAR and AOC the supposed two biggest PVP games coming out.
Actually AoC and WAR both have many more videos dealing with their game than DF and there are more reasons than delays for people thinking this is vaporware. Sort of like the last time DF was invited to E3 they forgot to bring a working copy of their game, and could only "showcase" some pictures. Where was DF at this latest convention that both AoC and WAR attended?

It is obvious you have not even looked for AoC or WAR movies... otherwise you would know that there are many on youtube and google video. Each one I might add that show many of the things I listed in my first line. Any kind of half hearted search would bring up several items about specific skills and combat mechanics for both games... items and more... I wait with anticipation for you to point out where in that ONE video it shows any of the above. I can list you 5 movies in the past month where the Devs of WAR gave all expanses paid trips to community site owners and let them ask questions all while taping it... they also showcased the game and spent a couple of days playing it.... course Aventurine has done that... no? Well they have showcased the game in a public forum right? no... hmmm... what have they shown again? right... mounted travel... a few models with sparkles... and a whole lot of excuses.

Who cares about AoC, its nothing more than a carebear WoW clone with advanced button mashing. Nothing compares to Darkfall because its a full loot sandbox. A company isn't gonna take out a 27 million dollar loan if they don't have a game. Maybe AoC will come out before Darkfall, maybe not.
