Its fun and all, but damn its messing up my sleeping

    Beds are overrated.

BTW, don't get addicted on fucking sleeping pills over a temporary problem.

I would kill for a bed lol, and yeah I want to stay away from sleeping pills. If anything maybe just a mild one just to get me to sleep early one night an try to fix it

As someone pointed out, sleeping pills are very personal. I know junkies who do everything BUT sleeping pills, simply because you get addicted and it's horrible to manage when you are. Not to mention you can't combine it with anything. The effects are that unpredictable and unstable.

And a bed... Depends on what you're used. Can't you move your bed out of your room?

One can be quite creative with the cushoning of a couch.

So on what are you sleeping now?

I've been sleeping on the couch in my second living room. And yeah a lot of people recommend against sleeping pills because of the side-effects and addictiveness. I want to stay away from them. But if it comes down to it ill do a mild one, just one time. And couches arent that bad, but you cant stretch out, and no matter what one arm is always right against your side, the other can hang off the couch but that one arm is always right there... annoys me lol

So in short take one if you want to freak out all night/day.

Oh and i took the weakest one the doctor could prescribe me.
What brand was it? ... i want to try them sounds cool   ...   just joking

I get about 4 hours of sleep a day, doesnt bother me at all, i go to lseep around 3 am and get up for work at 7 i feel sleepy for the first half hour but i get over it quickly and i dont take any caffeine, but yea school is coming soon, i try to get 8 hours of sleep a day then because well dont want to fall asleep in school.  Personally i wouldnt take sleeping pills, i guess you could try staying up for 34 hours or something then when your really tired go to sleep at 11 or 12 and set an alarm for 8 hours later, and when you wake up youll be slightly tired but youll have enough strength to make it through the day and once again at 11 or 12 youll have no trouble falling asleep, then wake up 8 hours later and hopefully your sleeping scheduale will be normal again, thats what i used to do when i got jetlag worked well and might work for this too.

Im pretty sure he took ambien.  Its the most widly perscribed drug for sleep, and if you happen to stay up after you take it, you trip balls.

    Option:

Re-arange the cushens of the couch on the floor in the same position as if they were in the couch. Turn each one seperate 90 degrees (with the upside still up, of course). This should improve balance. And sleeping on the floor will decrease the claustrofobic feeling of sleeping in the couch.

if you have a second couch. Position those cushens right next to the others. This way you have a home-made matress!

Ever considered moving the matress of your bed to the living room floor?

I used to have ensomnia too... It really sucked during High School. Falling asleep at around 1 AM and having to wake up at 5 AM to get ready. My mom gave me some of her prescription (sp? lol) sleeping pills, but make sure you don't become dependent on them. That REALLY REALLY sucks.

i got addicted to nyquil hard core(mind you i figured out that it was a substitution addicting because i had just quit smoking)

nyquil can be a bad idea.

what i do is work out a lot, run, ride my motorcycle at night which somehow relaxes me.

Kind of funny considering im usually well over the normal speed limit, and thats my relaxation.

another thing to do is honestly look up at the stars.

When i finally got a house of my own(im renting) and had my own backyard and patio i actually fall asleep really well there.

Over the counter sleeping pills actually end up keeping me awake.  I don't know exactly why.

One of my roommates said they have the same medicine in them as Bendadryl.  That's probably why, because Benadryl does the same thing to me.  It's like I'm tired and drowsy, but I can't fall asleep no matter what!

    Ambien is awesome though.

Try taking a mild sleeping pill and some muscle relaxers. I had the best sleep ever taking those two in combination, 12 solid hours and never felt more refreshed after waking up. Either that or do a all nighter. And falling asleep from being drunk isn't even really sleep, because I don't think you experience REM.

Smoke or drink. Or both. Works for me.

I tried unisom once and slept 14 hours and felt liek shit the next day. On the up side, if you eat 20 of them you'll trip balls. I witnessed my friend go crazy for 48 hours on Unisom. Good times.

I've got really bad insomnia and a couple other things (restless legs syndrome ) that make sleep near impossible for me. Sleeping pills don't cut it and alcohol makes my RLS worse. Just about the only thing that works for me is to smoke some weed right before bed. I don't even like to get high off the stuff but it puts me right to sleep. I bought $20 worth and its lasting me a long time since I only use it for sleep when I need to.

I've had trouble sleeping for ages.  I have taken Ambien and it does mostly work and I've never become dependant.  Ambien CR seems marginally better.  I've had times where it didn't work, probably because I was too stressy, and I've never had hallucinations.  As far as I know, it's not that sort of drug.  It simply calms the nervous system.  It's not a barbiturate or narcotic.  Anyway... you probably don't even need anything like that.  Check out your local health food store.  Maybe some Melatonin or a nice cup of Chamomile tea before bed.  Try having a relaxing massage.  There are tons of things to try before you resort to drugs.  (well, non recreational, non fun drugs, anyway)

    WEIRDEST FUCKING NIGHT EVER!

Alright I took it. and was still online for about an hour waiting for it to kick in. I started to feel tired so I went to lay down. I layed there for a half hour, and then went into a weird sleep. I still had full brain functionality, but I was asleep... it was weird. I couldnt move, and... im not sure how to explain it. About an hour later some people downstairs woke me up. So I tried going back to sleep, but i was so hungry. It felt like I just smoked pot, I had the munchies. So I went out and got something to eat. So another half hour later I went back t sleep and anothe rhalf hour later I feel asleep again. So now I woke up at 8:00am to a phone call. I figured I should probably get up, but I really wanted to sleep more, so I did. I then woke up again at 10:00am and figured ok ill get up now, but i fell asleep again... lol. So I woke up again finally and it was 11:30am and I was like damn! ok im getting up now! so i did. And wow okay the dreams I had were.... F$CKED UP! Jesus.... no i literally mean Jesus was there. God some weird dreams

Pitch a tent and sleep outside. And by pitch a tent I mean one that involves camping gear.

That is why it says on sleeping pill bottles to make sure you are able to get at least 8 hours of undisturbed sleep. That has happened to me before. I have woken up in the middle of the night after taking those to find myself pissing in my trash can in my kitchen because I thought I was in the bathroom.

Well, I don't know about you guys, but I just think of the most boring thing I can. If you were going to do any type of depressent drug (weed, alcohol, etc.) I would recommend Pot. Unlike all the propaganda commercials, pot is a very healthy drug when taken in normal ammounts. My brother, for example has a pretty bad case of Irrital Bowel Syndrome, IBS, and I really believe if he didn't smoke on ocassion, he would be dead. The disease makes him feel like he never has to eat, and the pot makes him hungry. Also, hey, I'll be honest, Marijuana is just a fun thing to do once and awhile.

Anyways, on the subject of thinking of something super boring.. I think about a volly ball game. I close my eyes and imagine a ball going up and down, up, down, etc. and just have my eyes follow the ball. My brother has a good one too, he just thinks of a box. He thinks of a white room, with a big black box, like a giant TV with no screen. He'll just imagine the box for a bit and clock out.

Be creative. Think of a person with no face. "Why the hell am I thinking of a faceless man?!" Two rats having a fist fight in a solid white room. Operah Winfrey doing the chicken dance infront of a live audience. Imagine watching yourself over your shoulder playing on the computer, that's a DULL one. Think about it.

I have a trouble with focus stuff like that, I'll be trying to sleep and go for the old 'tree in the forest' or 'one hand clapping' thing, which usually work for about 5 seconds. Getting peace and quiet is a pain when your own mind is constantly playing its own version of my playlist. Anyone have that problem?

  • MizabMizab Member Posts: 149

I know a bit about medication so figured could offer you some suggestions about sleeping pills. For over the counter you want to find anything that has antihistamine in it. The problem with OTC is that it's pretty much only a short term solution you can build a tolerance really fast with them. As far as prescriptions go only go with like lunesta or ambien or something like if you really have too. There is a fairly new drug out thats not narcotic so very little addiction and it works very well. It is called Rozerem the only two problems with it is that it is new so no generic so it is a bit costly and also for some people it has some adverse side effects. Other wise it is great though.

just use a 'minds eye' type thingy.

I use a small forest opening with a rock pool in it.  I count ripples on it and try to keep track of them, while keeping the rest of the picture and myself in my eye.

and a second area on the edge of a water fall that has large rocks all over for jumping,  that over looks a castle scene, and a small luck dragon that I use for increasing it's detail while keeping the rest of the scene and my self in my eye.

I find it amazing that by 2020 first world countries will be competing to get immigrants.
