Then clearly you are NOT using the shortcut with /trial appended to the end of it.
right click the shortcut on your desktop
Choose: Properties
Under the "target" field you will see a path surrounded by " " after the last " should be a /trial
If it is not there.. the game will not put you in trial mode and it will keep asking for the CD key.
I've read that if you go through the installer slowly that you can get it to not put that serial number request on too. I have another download (no fileplanet waiting) but its a much older version.
