Slow Internet Download Speed

Ok, i have a Windows XP pc and DSL..but it takes a long time for things to download/upload. Like most mmos it takes about 15-20 hours to download but on my friends pc it only takes his about 1 hour..but he has dsl too! and windows xp! Well...i do have a proxy server..is that a reason for the slow performance? (BTW a proxy server is a internet server that blocks out certin sites)

    DSL internet can come in different speeds, some are a slower and some are faster.

    For example some DSL speed are 128kps and some are 1Mps, so you see they range from speeds, also proxy servers do slow down the internet connection.

    Try searching on google for a internet speed test to see you speed.
