Hey, I am a long-time player of Guild Wars, and I played over 900 hours (according to Xfire) on this game. As you can image, I play this game constantly and with relative ease. I never had much problems.

Until recently. Somehow I get this message every time I tried to play:

"Unable to install.

The Installer could not write Guild Wars to the specified directory. Pleas check that you have administrative access, that you have permission to install programs in the specified directory, and that is suffcient space available on the drive."

The thing is, I have administravtive acess and I got at least 20 gbs of extra HD space. This problem never happed before. At least, I thoguht it was because of firewall, but I had firewall for at least half of year and i set Guild Wars as a trusted program.

I reinstall, and it worked for a while. Then it retrograded back to the previous message.

Got any clues?

That is odd. I would contact GW's support and see if they can't help you on this case. I've never had that happen to me before so...

Any other newly-installed software that might be interfering with your Guild Wars? Have you tried a system restore? Other than that, I'd go with kegboy on contacting Anet/NCsoft support.

or is simply your harddrive full where you installed GW to ?

Another thought to consider is an anti-virus program that my be blocking it. Then again, your program would notify you and ask you what you would want to do with the threat.

Where is your system's page memory (swap file) set up, how much space do you have allocated to it, and how much hard drive space is it running on?

It's not my firewall beacause i disabled it while tring to log in.

It's not my HD drive because I freed 40GBs and defraged it.

My page memory is 1524-3048 mb w/e that means.

How much space does it take up on your HD at the moment?

How much ram do you have?

I got 1GB RAM (Dual Channel)

I fixed the problem with the help of Support from Guild Wars.

ATTENTION: TO ANYONE WHO HAS SPYBOT: SEARCH AND DESTROY.

if you enable teatimer (realtime protectoin) its gonna screw with ur game. i disabled mine.

Happy to hear that you finally got your issue taken care of. Hopefully now you can move on to spending more hours playing instead of trouble shooting.

this is why i have 500gb once a game is installed if i want to keep it, i copy it to another directory (not on C) that way if i have to format all the games i like are still there, dont have to worry about these things. pretty much my gaming directory is using 100gb give or take a few gb. saves alot of hassle and time. if i feel like switching up my mmo's i dont need to go through too much patching, depending on the last time i played. but patching a mmo from start after its been out a year or more sucks when i start to get that jonesing feeling for a certain one.

but with your problem, can you install in safe mode with network at all? never tried it, so not sure if that would work, but in safe mode you have to log in as admin. could very well be that something loading at startup whether that be and exe or a dll, could be the problem here.

smart idea, but that gotta burn a lot of space.

i never though about safe mode. opps. and yes. i will burn mor horus on gw. already played 16 horus the past 2 1/2 days
