trial version flops

How misleading can they be?  Try the free download trial version! Oh how awesome I get to try before I buy.  Two and a half hours later I try to install and get that er uh little window that says please insert disc 1 now.....WTF!   I just spent 2.5 hours dowloading what?  OH I get it they just wanted to tease me and teach me how to search for their files and remove them because I CAN NOT INSTALL WITHOUT THE DISC!!!

Now that I said all that and made myself out to look like a total idiot...I want to say from the other information on the game I was able to find this looks like its gona be a big winner if the creators can do 2 things.  One they are going to have to get some huge servers and provide a path for installing this game that the not so computer literate people can follow.  Two they realy need to show some actual game play on their site maybe even a video tutorial like so many consol games use.

    As far as downloading the game, You are just going to have to contact support as I don't know how to fix your issue.

    ??  What website did you download the game from?  You can download the game client from the main website or Fileplanet for that matter and just make an account with the trial key.  No disc is needed.

    I just had a friend join me this weekend and she downloaded the trial also, installed flawlessly and everything worked great. Make sure you download the trial file from the main website, if you're getting the same problem I was suggest sending an email to support?

    Ok Darth I will give that crack about my hardware a moments thought.....(nah not the hardware :)) ...although you may not be far off, in that it might be my configeration settings or even all this firewall and virus/harmful program protection I run 24/7

    I had the same problem the first time I downloaded it.  I downloaded it again and it worked fine the second time. There was a missing file.

    Considering the fact that you can actually buy a serial code for this game online without ever getting a boxed/cd version of the game, I think the fault lies with you and not L2. You can download the game directly from the L2 website, as some previous posters said, no cd required. And afaik, a full download/update of the game is going to take way longer than 2.5 hours - unless you're running T3 or faster. I can remember individual chronicles taking longer than that to update (of course, tons of other people were updating at the same time, so not sure what the actual time would be.)

    Sorry, but I get a little crabby when people post slanderous remarks about a game b/c of their own mistakes/issues.

    Hmm... :

    a) you downloaded the wrong file - the links are pretty self-explanatory. Even CS kiddies could understand what to download and did successfully

    b) there are a hell of a lot of videos on gameplay and CGI to look at. There's an entire section on the website where you can download the videos - like every other MMOG has. Surprisingly, this link was under "Downloads -> Movies" http://www.lineage2.com/pds/pds_movie.html

    Yes, you did make yourself out to look like an idiot.
