Hello There,
I'm currently downloading the trial program fro URU Live but I'm confussed at how or if Europeans can play this game? I've read that there is a standalone version that is being released but all I've seen is the URU LIVE complete collection, is this correct?
This really does look like an interesting game (as I'm totally fed up of seeing games with axes and elfs in them). But would I be able to play it or will Gametap ever support Europe in the future?
Any other help would be useful too? from reading these forums I'm totally confused, if I buy the standalone version will I be able to play another way rather then using Gametap or is it always gametap, oh and why use gametap in the first place?

First of all , Myst Online : URU Live does not have a standalone retail product for now.Maybe in the future there will be , but for now , there is not.The product you saw in stores is URU:Complete Chronicles which is the single player URU game released 2.5 years ago.It consists of URU:Ages Beyond Myst , URU : To D'ni and URU : Path of the Shell.The first one is the original single player game that was released at the edn of 2003/the beginning of 2004.The 2 expansion packs included represent the content that should have been put in the online version of the game that was cancelled just before it launched.The whole content was then redone for single player and released as an standalone product called URU :Complete Chronicles.So right now URU LIve is downloadable only.That was sad moment , but last year Cyan - the creators/developers of URU announced that the game will be resurrected by Gametap.The game launched ot 15th February 2007.Right now the game consists of all the URU :Ages beyond Myst content and almost all of the URU : To D'ni Exp. pack content.The URU : Path of the Shell content is actually being worked at the moment and it should be released very soon.So far since launch there has been 3 new ages released.The Character Creation is pretty good.The graphics are amazing , the community - great , the sound is amazing too.The gameplay is great too.There is no dieing.There is sort of housing which is very good.You have your very own age which is in the form of an island to which you can add various things like waterfalls , imagers(a device with which you can present your very own images)There is small hut on this island in which there is a bookshelve where you store your books(the links to the ages).There is also a wardrobe by which you can change your appearance anytime you want.There are also neighbourhoods which play some sort of a guild housing/meeting place.Everyone can create his own hood and can accept new members.There is also the city of Ae'gura which is the main city of the D'ni(the main civilisation around which the story evolves)The city is pretty large and evolves by time.Recently the Museum was opened.There you can learn plenty of things.You can have an instanced version of any age including the city , if you want to explore by yourself.If you want to explore with friends , you will lhave to invite them to your Relto(your island) and from there link to your own "copies" of the ages and have fun together.There are also 2 ages that require playing with friends.Many people from the dev staff cme to the game and communicate with the community but do that "in character"(playing a role connected with the story).The trial is pretty limited and gives you the chance to explore only the hoods and one of the ages.Also the customisation options for the relto and the character are also pretty limited.There is a list of countries that can participate in MO:Uru Live .The list is pretty small at the moment but it will grow as the game grows.As i see you are from the UK you should not have problems playing as UK is supported.You wil lhave to go through Gametap to registrate , but for the moment you will not have access to the other Gametap content offered by Gametap.As soon as GT launches in your country as a part of your fee you will gain access to all of the offered content.I hope this information helped you.The game is worth it.Play it.

Thanks for replying with some very useful information, I installed the game last night but sadly I kept getting a message telling me that Agiex(something) was missing or that you have an older version installed on your computer? and when I tried to install it, it kept saying installer is corrupt. The game does look very interesting and worth a look, but got to find a way to play it first. I'm really not sure how I can play this game using GameTap though, I had a look at their site and it always comes up with a page telling me that 'GameTap is unavaliable in your country' so I can't actually even create a main account on GameTap to play URU.
I guess if I can see if I can get it working, you mentioned the games community, what type of community is it? is it a social one as you mentioned the neighbourhood (I've watched a video showing that).

First of all tell me where did you download the client from.Second as I assume the client you have it is indeed the right one but you need the Ageia PhisX drivers installed on your PC.So here is the link you need to go at and just click the download button and download the drivers - www.ageia.com/drivers/drivers.html .Install them and then reinstall the client.You also need the latest DirectX 9.0c installed on your PC.
As far as creating an account , if you are indeed from the United Kingdom you should not have problems.Follow this link - www.gametap.com/home/myst/signup_tryitbuyit_domestic.html and choose to create a visitor account(the Gametap Limited Trial) or create a real account (Gametap Membership).As I assume if you are outside USA or Canada you can only create an account for the game through this links.I hope this helps you and you can soon enjoy the community.
As far as community is concerned , it is very mature one.It likes socialising and it is extremely helpful.You will not be dissappointed.

I have been able to log in now, but for some reason it will not allow me to create a Visitor? I put in the name and click male but it won't allow me to log in, it doesn't allow me to 'enter URU' at all. It as a invitation code on the page to but for some reason I haven't been given one.
Not sure what this is, I'll have a look around.

When you log into the actual game(after filling the Account and password slots) you should wait and the game will pass the updating screen.After that is done you will be infront of the choose character section.Here there are tho sections - Visitors , and Explorers.At the explorers section there are 5 character slots.At the Visitors section there is only one.You click on that character slot and go to the next screen - there you fill your desired name and choose a gender.After filling the name and choosing a gender at the down right corner of the miniwindow there is a button called Visit URU.Click it .After clicking that button you go to a screen connected with the screen calibration.You click Explore URU and then you will go to the character customisation screen .After finishing your character customisation(remember , you are with a visitor account and the customisation is pretty limited.Paid subscribers have much larger numbers of clothing for example , etc.) , you click Explore URU button at the top right corner of the screen.Then it comes the Intro.After that you are transported to your Relto(your island and private place).

Try this - uninstall the game , install the client again and then install the Ageia Phisx drivers.Then wait the game to update fully.After that login with you Account and password and do waht i told you in my previous posts.If this does not help you try redownloading the client , they should have given you a link for download when you registered.I hope everything gets fine and you soon experience the great journey called Myst Online : URU Live.
