Whats ur best MMORG? Why?

RaXavier69RaXavier69 Member UncommonPosts: 48
hey guys, as you cna see ive been with mmorg for a while since 2004. through out the years i betaed alot of games that passed through here. i was just wondering what other members thought,

I nominate Anarchy Online,

Although i dont play it now i truly believe its the best mmorpg out there.

It may have low graphics compared tot he newer games, may only have 2 servers and you hit a few lags here and there.

But through it all its the best because of items unqiuness. ittts only game out there that i know of that has such a huge collection of items, skills, Spells(nanos), user items( 3 windows of usable items) class, and professions. and lets not forget the tons of playing fields. But this is just my thought.

Dont be shy post ur nominations.

I have mixed emotions on what was my best one so far.

EQ taught me the importance of being in a good guild, right off the bat. When it comes to leveling up, or raiding, being in a good guild helps in every way. You learn things, you pick things up about other classes that you wouldn't learn from just logging in and playing. It taught me to have patience.

Final Fantasy XI helped me get completely into group mode. I learned how to make a million macros and how to use the search function and looking for group tabs. I enjoyed being able to pick one race, and switch jobs as I pleased. It was the first game I played where I actually wanted to play gimp race/job combos just to prove other people wrong.

World of Warcraft. It was more or less a game that was other peoples first MMO and it seemed as though I was doing all the teaching this time. I brought people into instances with me and I took time to explain in detail how certain pulls worked and basically the ins and outs of every single instance all the way to level 70. I had to explain to mage after mage that it actually makes sense to use Frost Nova Rank 1 the entire game because you never use it to damage, you use it as crowd control. Rank 1 nova was just as effective as the highest rank, but for much less the mana cost, and in the end, it helps you in the long run. I did learn that player skill was 20% of the raid. I used to think that guilds that couldn't do raids just sucked but WoW has shown me the light. The difference between a good raid and a bad raid is not skill, but how well will the other 39 idiots listen when I give directions. You can bring a total noob guild into MC for the first time and if they LISTEN, things go good.

Vanguard made me appreciate well polished games that I used to neglect. It also gave me an idea of how hard it actually is to develope and MMORPG and make it work. It was the best game to play a caster in as we were aloud to move around during even the longest casting spells. This made it efficient for casters because the melees never stood a chance because they could never get close. If you were a hybrid healer/caster like the Blood Mage it made things all that much easier as if you ever did catch up to me and do damage, I could just outheal it, type to you about how you are going to die, and then kill you at the same time.

Guild Wars was a challenge to me at first because of all the point and clicking and I hadn't done much of that since my Diablo II days.

Ragnarok Online along with Final Fantasy were among the few games where you respect somebody who hits the leve cap. In other games everyone is like "DING Level cap baby!" and everyone just laughed because it was a joke in some games.

Granado Espada the beta made me appreciate bots. I never used a bot in a game before but this game with how long it takes to grind on mobs, shows me why people would bot. It had an in game bot system called "Patrol Mode" and as long as you characters did not get knocked down, they would fight for you. I went to bed one night at level 52 and when I woke up my characters were all around level 58.

I would have to say just because I do enjoy groupind with other players and I had always been a fan of the way the Final Fantasy 1 Black Mage and Red Mage looked, that Final Fantasy XI was the best MMORPG I have played. I am hoping though, that Age of Conan will take the title.

well i think the underworld (www.allmafia.com) is the best MMORPG browse rbased game right now

the community there makes it exciting - as you know the best part of any online game is the players - if they suck then game play sucks

its a pretty friendly but competitive crowd - over 41 thousand now i think

For me its undeniably Daoc, followed by UO due to the large presence of pvp. Daoc for me brought the largest appreciation for teamwork in pvp and also motives to kill other players. UO (pre tram) was amazingly exciting because of how much you had to stay on ur toe's whenever you left town, a game where if you were logged in, you DIDNT leave ur char to go to the bathroom. Coupled with the fact that u were fighting for your survival, nothing like finally accumulating all this sweet gear then get ganked by a bunch of red players and everything you owned gets looted lol.

Favorit is the key word, meaning one ^^

I'd be willing to bet that my favorite will not be the favorite of many (if any other) posters here.

I have been, and probably always will be, a huge fan of Shadowbane. I know, bad graphics, low"ish" population (definitely low considering what it was like when SB went gold 4 years ago...and no where NEAR the pop. of many of the more popular games around these days), a game that is built around ganking anything that moves and an engine that won't ever see the day of light once SB takes its final curtain call.

But there's just something to be said for the ability to retaliate against someone (or some guild/nation) who has crossed you one too many times. Being able to drop a rock and tear their stuff down (assuming you're good enough to do that), along with wide open PvP...well, for those of us that have been bit by the bug, we know it's not called "Shadowcrack" for no reason.

And tbh, I have yet to find another game that was closer to rock/paper/scissors when it comes to PvP than SB is. Certainly there are some weaker charters on the lore server (Vindication) that need to be tweaked...but when it comes to small-scale PvP there will always be something that can beat your best toon. That, to me, is what PvP should be all about.

Anyway, rambling on here. Lookin' forward to seeing other's opinions. Thanks for "listening" to mine.

Shadowbane is the best mmorpg I've ever played.

What I like about SB is:

    1. summon/recall scroll/run buffs - I hate running and this game made it, dare I say it? FUN!  Whoever thought up hearthstone is a retard.

    2. diplomacy - players made guild and formed alliances and nationhood with other guilds and fought wars that engaged entire server.

    3. pvp - from ganking to group vs group to guild vs guild to zerg vs zerg and sieges.  All done in a almost total sandbox environment because players were able to build entire cities (with merchants/defenders/walls/siege stuff/etc) anywhere, excluding few small islands (noob zone, highest mob zone, and three NPC cities).

    4. rogues - the best ideas and implementation of rogue classes I have ever seen.  Stealth was done just right, backstabbing was done the right way.  I've yet to find a game where you could STEAL from other people's inventory.

    5. lots of choices - a SHITload of classes and templates made the game very fun to play.  Just when you thought you had the best template and could kill anyone, some dude invents a new template on test server and its the new flavor of the month.

With so much damage: piercing, slashing, bludgeon, holy, unholy, fire, cold, poison, lighting, etc  you could spec your character only to resist certain(about 3, max 4) types of damage only making you vulnerable to other classes.

    6. healers - were actually doing what the name implies.  Healing and not owning warriors and their mother in pvp.  Priests were the #1 class in pvp because they were useful HEALING and BUFFING not as primary damage dealers.

Bugs and glitches made the game a barren place though, but not before I and my RLF had the best MMO experience to date.

Got to be AO for me

The community was the biggest plus in the early days most guilds treated members like family kitting new members out. it was really fun, loads of specs to play around with mass amount of items. Finding a team to quest with was easy.. most of the time the main city was full of players, it was the first MMO I ever played..  shame I ain't found another MMO like it.

id have to go with wow and gw. GW because of the cool graphics, no monthly fee and pvp, and WOW because of the storyline and the groupwork you can put into the game-eg. you get into a group of 10 to beat a elite monster.
