It's a Freespace 2 stand-alone game, but it definitely doesn't play like FS2. For starters the bottom pic up top is ingame. It feels exactly like the dogfights from the TV series. Sound effects are taken directly from the show, but the voice acting is totally original and doesn't suck for a change. it also has a working 3rd person camera (I remember FS2 having one but back then it was HUDless and therefore useless). some of the maps contain huge asteroids and planetscapes. the demo includes 3 campaign missions and a dozen multiplayer modes. there are bots available so all MP modes can be played offline as well.

    I used to be a big BSG fan, so I gave this a go. Downloaded the demo, but whenever I try and install it, my CPU usage jumps to 100% and the installer essentially crashes. Is this happening to anyone else?

    Still d/ling the demo, but I've had that happen with other software while installing. Sometimes, I just go do something else for 20 mins or so, and when I come back, it's all kosher, sometimes not. No clue why it happens, but I'd hazard a guess that it's to do with the craptastic windows installer.

    It uses an installer called BitRock, just gave it another go, no dice.

    Thank the Gods! Now I have something to do BSG-wise 'til 2008.

    Looks like fun, but the D/Ls taking a while. I've done worse, and for worse (DnL download.... bah).

    Yeah, the installer bombs on my machine too.  Disappointing considering having the chance to fly around in the viper was quite appealing.
