More non-instant areas? Other questions a former player would answered.

Lets try it this way since my other thread didn't seem to go over to well. I'll just be more direct about my questions and concern about the game. Since launch (only played my free month at the time when the game first came out) I'm interested in changes in the following areas.

1. Have more non-instant areas been included in the game?

2. Have more non-city dungeons and areas (instant or not) been included in the game? I remember there was one forst area but didn't really look at it to well.

3. Has more Lore been released in the game, to expand it's story? Is it easy to find or presented to the players?

4. Have any lag issues or graphic issues been cleared up?

5. Are there any plans for instant housing/apartments or anything like that? (Just curious as I really like things like this but not a biggy for me).

6. How is the story and world progression for characters?

By that last question I'm referring to the story presented to the character as they quest. Is there any connection between the quest you do or a sense of how the city (not really Eberron the world as it's to large and the game takes place in one area) is expanding, changing, etc? It goes back to the Lore question I guess. Does Turbine keep expanding the story?

7. Does DDO seem like it's being shafted in a way or to degrees in favor of LOTRO? Is support still strong behind it or is Turbine going through the motions?

Yes I know modules have been added but do they have any meat to them or seem like shallow attempts?

Thanks.

I'm curious about these same questions; I've played DDO for a bit now, gotten a character to 2nd level and some ranks above, but have let my subscription lapse recently and am debating whether it should be renewed......I've been given to understand by friends that if I can just persevere with all the kobold quests for a bit longer that the game really opens up after about 4th to 5th level.....but it seems like the game's progress is very slow compared to WoW and Guild Wars, the two other MMO loves of my life.

As an old paper and pencil D&Der, I really, really want to dig DDO......but am concerned that it will never "open up" in to a more presistent world ala WoW, something I think is important to a game based on D&D, although I love the dungeon/instance structure of the game, as it makes each scenario more interesting than just a straight quest...

Yes, very little, but no combat in it.

A lot of dungeons, I could even risk saying the content doubled since release, and a lot more open are instances. Such is the desert, the most popular, and a new update is on the way, shall arrive in march. More open instanced areas are to be added, that is now a priority, and in these areas various exploring quests will be available as well. More on this on the website.

Lore is constantly being poured in with the new content updates, you just have to read the quests you are given :D

    4. Have any lag issues or graphic issues been cleared up?

I experience a lot less lag than before, however lag was never much of an issue for me. I don't encounter graphical issues these days.

    None

Goes back to the lore question :D

Nope, by the way I see it, they see future in this game, which surprizes me, as I thought they would try and ditch already. They even licensed Kynapsis AI for it. Think they will be constantly upgrading for at least a year.

    Thanks.

Sorry for your last thread :)

I would basically agree with most of this.  The game has come a long way.  I would add that there will probably be housing at some point in the game from what the developers have said. (I don't think it is a high priority though.  If you enjoy sitting around decorating a house then I would suggest buying Sims.  Flame away LOL.) Overall the main thing that this game has over others is the combat system is more interactive, the quests are actually quests, and the characters are 100 times more customizable than most other MMORPGs out there.  BTW I know some people hate this game but I really don't understand this.

One thing DDO has going for it is that its code and engine are similar to LoTRO.   So the same underlying mail system thats in DDO is being used in LoTRO.   Now this works the other way and I imagine they will develop the housing for LoTRO and then translate it over to a DDO version.   Plus now that LoTRO is finished, I would suspect that DDO should be getting a few extra people to help work on the monthly updates.    They have added a ton of new content since the launch.   Most of it though is still in instanced areas.   Even the huge Desert area is instanced with alot of objectives to complete.
