I have a similar problem, not to that degree but i'm similar. I'm about 6'0" and i weighed myself at the gym today and i weigh 175 lbs. I thought for sure with what i was wearing it would be more, but then again, i guess your weight varies by the hour and i'm not sure if the gym's scale was accurate. Furthermore, i'm missing a few feet of intestines (so i'm probably 5-10 lbs lighter than the way my body looks, but the problem with less intestines is that i malabsorb food which means that i lose weight just by eating normally . Since i do not eat very well, i'm trying to balance getting cut with cutting flab and growing in a six-pack and it's not working out so well lol.
If you want to gain weight, fatty foods isn't really the best way, lots of carbs/protein are. What you should try doing is exercizing, working out, and eating a crap load of carbs and protein.
You can buy protein bars, seem to have both carbs/proteins, buy them off the internet for wholesale value, you could save a $1 each, just put in www.powerbar.com.
cereal has a ton of carb, potatoes, fries, etc. I'd say just eat more, try to eat protein/carbs more and work out at the gym. One thing is when you start working out at the gym, you will naturally burn carbs, so you'll need to eat like way more to build. Also, it is a slow process and my philosophy on fitness and exercising is, it is a way of life, not something you do to fit in a dress or look sexy on the beach.
Also, make sure when you start working out at the gym, if you do, to be balanced, work out your whole body, i've neglected my abs and legs for 3-4 years and yeah, don't do that. If i had worked my abs from day 1, i'd have a six-pack for sure and probably less flab, if i had worked my legs from the get go, i wouldn't have chicken legs in proportion to the rest of my body. Balance is key, if you really think of beauty, the most beautiful people are well proportioned .
If you venture into GNC, you may find some weight gainer formulas and what not. My other philosophy dealing with fitness is keeping things pristine, so i pretty much take zero supplements, the only thing i do take is whey protein as just a small boost because my eating habits aren't the greatest. Also, before you do anything do some research and don't hurt yourself in the gym. Start out slow with modest goals, just to get the hang of it. Start with going ot the gym perhaps once or twice a week and perhaps eating a little bit extra each night and what not. Once you can do that consistently you can begin to move up. Do not get discouraged, remember good health habits should be a way of life, not a means to an immediate end.
Also, don't over do it, have fun and good luck. My ideal weight (fully naked of course) would be 185-190. but it is apparent i'm about 10-15 lbs off and i was like WTF today.
Also, when i started working out, i was 6'0" and 155-160 lbs and now i'm 175-180 lbs. Hmm i forgot to account for lack of fully formed intestines, so i started at about 160 lbs and now i'm 180-185 lbs .
Also, try to start doing routine things that are designed for better health, i work on the 10th floor in my building, so i take the stairs unless i'm in a hurry or i'm carrying something, i also walk 1 hour home if the weather is nice and i have time. I figure at 25 if i walk up flights of stairs, by the time i'm 65, all that walking up the stairs should have a profound and beneficial effect.

I do a lot of weight lifting, I'm 6'2'' and 230 pounds. .if you want to gain weight the right way, start lifting weights every day, take one day off per week. Alternate your target area every time you are in the gym, never work out a muscle group two days in a row. The best time to eat your protein stuff is after you lift, not before. Remember that your body doesn't need a lot of outside help in the protein department, so don't go too crazy with protein suppliments unless you are taking roids, which I'm not suggesting, but if you are planning on taking the more hardcore stuff, make sure that you consult someone who knows how to regulate something like that. Though it would never be something that I would recommend.
If you are interested in just getting fat, start eating a lot of bread and pasta....basically anything that that stupid ass food pyramid says you should eat a lot of. If you want to get fat, follow that food pyramid. If you don't get it by now, I hate that stupid pyramid.
Your argument is like a two legged dog with an eating disorder...weak and unbalanced.
There's really no way to get fatter for some people, depending on how their metabolism works. I've seen a girl that can eat like 10+ whole plates of food in a row, and still not be full. On the other hand, you can gain some muscles. I'm about the same as you, maybe even worse(5"11 and 120 pounds, and I've been 120 pounds ever since I was 5"5 or so), but since I started taking some martial arts last 2 years i've gained some muscles. Everyone has some fat to be turned into muscles, hopefully.

Who looks like a 2nd grader now eh Verg. Perhaps you should have read the OP.
Seems to me that we've had some very good suggestions as to how to gain weight by putting some muscle on.
That's not what the OP asked. The OP clearly asks how to get fat. Here's my suggested regeme:
Ideally before you start you should take up smoking for a few weeks, then give it up when you begin the regeme. Find a really immersive MMO.
Wake up at 9am, don't eat breakfast (that gets your metabolism going). Play the MMO until around noon. Then eat a huge plate of potatoes, mashed with butter (but only if someone else does the mashing - otherwise just oven cooked), eat until you can't eat anymore.
At around 6, you should put a couple of deep pan pizzas in the oven, and eat them rapidly, still playing the MMO. At around 11-12pm you should have your really big meal because your metabolism is slowest while you sleep....as many carbohydrates as you can fit on your plate, the higher the GI index, the better. Go to bed soon after the meal.
While doing all this make sure you keep drinking non-diet cans of pop - at least 6 a day, and keep a few chocolate bars to hand to snack on through the day. Repeat ever day. At no point must you do anything more strenuous than walking to the bathroom.
You wan't to become fat? That's plain stupid and unhealthy.
Follow Chryo's advice and start working out at the gym, start with gainers the ones with more carbohydrates than protein, two times a day, one 5 minutes after your work out and depending on the time you go to the gym, mornings, take one portion after lunch as an afternoon meal or if you workout after afternoons - evenings take one portion between breakfast and lunch.
Even the days you do not work out eat gainers two times a day.
The weight gainer you're going to eat should have about 70% carbohydrates and 20-25% protein, 500-600 calories and about 5-10% fat per portion.
You could eat gainers and don't work out but you won't put on as much weight since you probaly won't gain any muscles.
And when you worked out for some months or longer and gained the weight you're happy with go with protein, like whey's, about 98% protein and 2% carbohydrates per portion, so you'll maintain your weight and from there on.
Listen to this man.
Best to start out with a full-body workout for a couple of months 4-5 times a week to gain strength (taking weekends off maybe), then progress onto a split-routiine (diffrent muscle groups each workout). Compund exercises are known to help build muscles mass (such as squats, deadlfts and bench presses) although some dumbbell curls would be good for buliding up your arms (hammer and alternative). You'll only need a pair of 25lb dumbbells to get started with (a bench would be good though).
Don't worry about putting on weight just yet, although I'd advice you to quit with the junk food now and concentrate on eating 5-6 smaller 'clean' meals per day (low in saturated fats and high in protein). That bad diet will catch up with you eventually.
Drink lots of water and get plent of rest (at least 8hrs per night) and you should be set. (though consult yuur gp beofre starting a new training plan!)
Also, if you do decide to work out, make sure the sessions last no longer than 45mins-1 hour tops. Anything longer usual results in lesser gains in ratio to the effort used.

heres a tasty milkshake that you can make to get a good dose of goodness :P
You will want a proper full sized metal milkshake cup for this one.
1 - 1 1/2 Bananas
1 Tablespoon of Honey
2 Tablespoons of Powdered Condensed Milk
1 Tablespoon of Wheat-Germ
1 Tablespoon of Unprocessed Oats
1 Tablespoons of Sustagin
2 Tablespoons of Full Cream Ice Cream
Top the rest up with full cream milk
And blend
I would probably have 4 slices of toast with that, and maybe some cereal if i was going to work out that day.
Also i would only recommend working out for 30minutes a day for 6 days a week, 3 hrs a week of training is more than enough for anybody. But make sure you sweat your ass off. Then after that have a big lunch, like, probably the equivalent of your current dinners. Then for dinner, just eat something light. This is healthy and will gain muscle, and in turn weight, but if FAT is what you want to be, follow this for about 6 months then just stop working out all together. Wont take long after that :P
Thats a great plan for gaining muscle (if keeping to the plan). But the best way to get FAT (ie; unhealthy and overweight) like the OP's title suggests, would be to eat like a king at night and just sleep with it all swimming in your stomach. Also, skipping a breakfast meal completely (consisting of complex carbs) and hitting take-away leftovers (for example) would also make someone put on weight.
Well i had the exact same problem.... at the beginning of this year i was 6'0 and 120 lbs... now i'm 6'0 140, not bad for a little less than two months, and most of the gain was muscle, im only 7% BF. best way to achieve this is free weights and high calorie protein based diets.
some of the things you want to eat are:
dried fruits = especially raisens and dates
bananas
grain cereals (wheat chex are good)
protein shakes
spoonfuls of honey
spoonfuls of peanut butter
try to drink a lot of orange juice or apple juice instead of water
try to eat 5 full meals a day, and try to eat 3800* + calories
Most i've gained weight was this last august-november. I was 6'1" and 153 when starting weight lifting and at the end of the semester i had a much fuller body and my weight was 171 lol. I was amazed. just gotta stick with a plan.
At the beginning of the school year I was 170lbs (i'm 5'7"). Now I'm 145lbs. Its kinda odd, I have only had about 1000 calories (a guess.. i don't count calories) in the past 24 hours and I don't even feel slightly hungry...
I have no fat just needed to get heavier i thought i was light weight! but coool i actully fit in i lift these storage chest its about 40 pounds its enought to gain muscle i have to lift it 50 times each hand plus...200 curl-ups 100 push-ups 12-15 pull-ups i do this 5 times a week well thx for your suggestions mods can delete this thread now
Don't do that to yourself.
I wanted to work out ever since I was in high school but I never could because I always wanted to do too much all at once. it was like taking too much to chew. I finally was able to get into a groove my senior year of college because i started off slow and expanded from there.
Furthermore, you're more likely to burn yourself out this way and give up altogether. Also, don't think it is about weight and reps. Believe me the best thing you can do is to be consistent, eat like you want to and don't hurt yourself.
I'd suggest you just make sure you go to the gym when you have the time, you do as much as you can, don't hurt yourself, you eat right to gain weight as you want and you go about that, get comfortable iwth a light routine then branch out.
I neglected working out legs/abs for so long because i tried to do too much at first, now i do them because i made baby steps and i'm not crazy hardcore about it. If i dont' work out legs i don't feel like crap, i'll do them next time, if i miss abs, no biggy i'll get on them later.
The point is you're going to burn yourself out and get hurt. I would suggest going to your PCP (primary care physician) and getting a referral to a nutrionist who can help you with expert knowledge.
Good luck. then again i'm like you i'm 6'0 and 175 lbs and that's too thin for me but then again i'm trying for a six-pack and this balancing act of not eating carbs but high protein isnt' working well, i eat cereal by the boxload.
Good luck and be smart about what you do. Also, weight gain is very slow and it will take months to put on the right kind of weight. You'll be lucky to put on 5 lbs in the first month and be patient.

Think long terms it takes time Cryo made some good points. Being fit and taking care of yourself is very important, but you have to be balanced, or else you will wear yourself out like Cryo said. You will find that everyone who does workout and takes a good care of themselves and the bodies, did in the beginning go all out and at some point realized they would have to take a more balanced programme to heart. Bring it on down now.
Damn byotch dat aint no friggn moon fool, dat be a friggn space station byotch.
i dont know f i posted this but i should only work out 2 times a day so 1day y0u can rest your muscles?
Why would you work out two individual times in one day? That's unnecessary unless you plan to be a competetive body builder...just work your muscles on alternating days, unless you want to spend half of your day in the gym, in which case go for it...but even I don't go that far just to look buff.
And by the way, what Cryo said is pretty much accurate, I didn't look over that shake that he recommended, but it did look kinda tasty. Personally I try to eat well, without going too crazy with the health stuff...the most important thing that you can do is to be regular in how you eat, don't have huge binges where you eat like crazy and then stop eating the next day, stuff like that is really bad for your metabolism and your body as a whole.
Your argument is like a two legged dog with an eating disorder...weak and unbalanced.

If you consume more calories than you expend you will gain mass.
If you consume less calories than you expend you will loose mass.
As long as your basic nutritional needs are met, It is that simple.
