I have been forum trolling for a bit and decided to buy the game based on a few things... first, i really am impressed with the way they have handled the release... they didn't promise anything and were totally open and honest about it not being complete, and about their financial reason for launching early.. after D&L, where there was no communication, i find it refreshing... I want to support a team that is honest, and the only way to do so is with my gaming dollars.
I also like the fact that they listened to the fan base and opened with a FFA PvP server... I love those types of servers, so that makes me happy.
In the end, I hope more people choose to buy the game so that they can have the financial resources needed to bring it to its full potential..

Take whatever you hear on the forums here with a grain of salt because I have a feeling you are about to get flamed to hell, unfortunately.
Hope you enjoy the game though, thats whats most important
Out of every 100 men, 10 should not be there,
80 are nothing but targets, 9 are the real fighters.
Ah, but one, ONE of them is a warrior,
and he will bring the others home.

VG is quite a polarising game, for some the game is already far better than the alternatives because it has the right type of depth, and release bugs can always be fixed, but the playstyle & challenges can't. For others it's not polished enough or they may not like the slant of the playstyle, it's much more of a sandbox where you make your own choices, less of a walkthrough where you follow a singular stoyrline.
You go girl! *snaps fingers*

Don't get me wrong i'm not here to try and change the mind of the person who wrote the OP, If he found a game he likes im happy from him, im sure he is going to have a great time playing the game.
But i just feel that Sigil knew what there time limit/budget was. If you dont have the time/money to put something into your game you have to plan for it. I think they tried to do to much, they where unrealistic in what they where hoping to do. So instead of having everything that needed to be done finished they have a bunch of things that are 80% done.
Now they ask every one to be patient beause the game isn't where they want it to be. I just dont think being honest makes up for the fact that they failed to correctly run there own company. Since they dont know how to run there business the consumer shouldnt have to pay for there mistakes.
In all honesty i hope not having everything finshed hurts there subscription numbers. It should, if you dont finish something by when it needs to be done you should be penalized for it, honest about it or not.
If only i could find a troll with a tin foil hat. =(
Be as sympathetic and supportive as you want, but demand that they be the same for you should you lose everything you've worked for (ingame) due to bugs. After all, relationships like this should be two-way streets. Right?
Anyway, have fun!

I would feel the same way too, if Vanguard weren't as ambitious a title as it is and if what is there weren't as completely ****ing awesome as it is. Sadly, many people won't give it a chance because of the crap they hear about it on the internet.
Also, I have been playing for just short of 5 months now and I have yet to lose anything, be it exp or items, due to bugs.
To the O.P., I'm glad that you didn't listen and wanted to try it for yourself. I have found some of the best games that way. When EQ came out I was stupid enough to listen to people on MMORPG.com who said it was "Gay" and it sucked, and I missed out on the launch and first 2 years of it. Luckily I got it as a gift 2 years after launch and found it to be in my top 3 video games of all time.
My top 3:
1) Vanguard
2) Ultima Online
3) Everquest
They're really kind of all tied for first place, but Vanguard is here now and am hooked on it. BTW, on a PVP server, it is gooooood to be a rogue.
Sorry. I don't buy games on the hopes that if I give them my money then I might finally get what I'm paying for.
Nope. That logic doesn't fly with me.
Never be afraid of choices. More choices are always good things.

I gotta agree with bal........
Somehow the Devs begging the community to buy their unfinished game so that they wont go bankrupt doesnt exactly fill me with confidence in their ability.
