Alright so im just curious. I get so many mixed reviews. I have maybe 15-20 hours a week to play computer games. I hate grinding endlessly like in wow. Mob after mob after mob after mob in a huge circle for 3-4 hours a level. Ive had about a dozen level 60's in wow, every class, most races. I also played EQ back in the day when i had more time also. I had a 60 mage, 60 bard, 60 monk. EQ wasnt too bad i actually enjoy the group fighting. Someone pulling mobs to your group, also like ffxi, is far more enjoyable than the circle game in wow. EQ also had endgame. WoW's endgame pre-BC was about as flexible and fun as a 75 year old woman. I hate LFG time and 400+ hours to reach max level (looking at you ffxi). I also hate grinding the same crap for hours all by yourself. I also like to feel entertained. Running around gigantic cities looking for random nub NPC's to turn in quest items is retarded. Is vangaurd worth buying? I like the graphics and the races and classes.

When i first started this i spent the first few levels exploring (it was launch day!)
Once i had progressed i found myself in a group (spent around 10 mins LFG) and had a lot of fun, at teh end i had to go as i was sleepy and one of the guys in the group asked if i wanted to join his guild, i joined IO guild on Infinium server and to be honest havent looked back, i can go solo whenever i want and the guild is always moving around we frequently and find plenty of things to do whether its completing quests , doing guild farming (get 6 people harvesting same item and your collection rate skyrockets) or simply hanging out and exploring (we once decided to race from Leth Nurae to New Taragnor, one on horse and me swimming, i won )
I dont spend much time in LFG as my guild is nice and busy and we have mix of players from American, canadian, Belguim, Sweden, UK, Germany there is always someone online to group with if needed
I too played FFXI and am currently toying with canx that subscription to play VG fulltime, i currently manage around 20+ hours a week and have hit level 15 after 3 weeks of playing on VG and am currently spending time crafting in preperation of obtaining plot of land to build the Guildhouse upon
If you get it and playing on a europe server look us up
EDIT:
As above post i also agree that there are lots of bugs, they havent bothered me but since the new patch i have lost well over 10K XP due to 'sudden death' while crossing chunks and even a random teleport after CTD which also whiped out a load of XP, If you can live with bugs then jump in if not then wait a while longer for tehse to be ironed

The difference is, Vanguard offloads a lot more 'group' quests, and usually where you do your solo quests, there is group content. So rather than the tucked away optional content of say Scarlet Monastery, Razorfin Down, and other dungeons that you CAN go to in WoW but don't have to at all; Vanguard mixes these types of group content right in with your solo content.
So if you disliked mob after mob, Vanguard is going to aggravate you way more than WoW did since its less casual friendly and whether you'll level or not is less predictable. If you only have 3-4 hours a night, your whole plan to level could be ruined by dying repeatedly trying to regain your corpse.
As for grouping, if you liked the camp and pull type of play...it's not exactly that in Vanguard. It's more of a roam and complete quest objectives, camp spawn points for quest NPCs alongside other groups.
Vanguard's end-game will probably be a lot more flexible than WoW for the following reasons;
1. Raid sizes are limited to four groups of six.
2. No instancing, so no ability to schedule strict calendars for content. It's back to competing with other guilds like the first- and second-gen days, or even WoW's world bosses.
3. Vanguard really does succeed at permeating a mix of solo/group/raid content at every level range, with group content being predominant. Rather than WoW's optimal way of playing (or what it used to be) being 1-59 99% solo, and level 60 99% raiding.
It's going to take you forever to level in Vanguard, but keep in mind most of everyone is still a newbie in this game, and second, third, fourth times arounds levelling up always seem exponentially easier and quick. But right now I'd say it's quite daunting, but you should be able to get 1-2 levels a week no matter what range you're in provided you aren't killed a whole lot.
So in short, there's a lot you'd hate about PvE, even moreso than WoW, but there's probably a lot you'd like about it, even more so than EQ. Mixed bag of goods and bads.
If you can cough up the money for another 1gb stick of ram you would be set.
Bear in mind you could fall victim to bugs. If you aren't prepared for that wait.
