Wanting a game for PvE only

So here's the thing.  I've tried WoW a long time ago and didn't like it because I wanted PvP.  Now I'm wanting to play a game strictly for PvE (Minus Raids).  So the Gear thing and low percentage drops will be meaningless to me since all I want is some quality quests and good ol' adventuring.

Is this the game for me?  Can I play through the game as a single character and be content paying them a monthly fee for the quality of quests?  I know this is personal opinion, but I'm wondering what the WoW players have to say about true Casual PvE gameplay in the game.

I'll never log on for more than a couple hours at a time, and I'll probably be soloing most of the time due to the time constraints.

Should I pay for this game or should I look elsewhere?

Just looking for some people's opinions to this game.

Note: I've been playing the 10-day trial as a Human Mage for the past few days, only at level 12, but i'm really liking the quests so far.  I'm questioning more about the "post trial" gameplay.

yes you can play it casually/solo all the way to lvl 70, if you get the expansion and get high lvl there is a ridiculous amount of quests some you will need 2,3,5 people to complete, but its usually quick.

ofcource eventually you will run out of stuff to do solo, but if you are playing casually that would take a while.

There are only so many quests you can do.  You will be able to quest all the way to 70, and you'll still have plenty of quests left after you get to 70.  There are 16 different dungeons you can play around in with a 5 man group.  But if you aren't into raiding or PvP you'll probably get bored pretty quick after you hit 70, until then you might enjoy it.

If the OP only plays a few hours a week then he will take a very long time to hit 70.  Even then he could probably enjoy several more months of light play exploring the end game dungeons.

By the time he runs out of stuff to do on his first character then there will either be a new expansion on the horizon or another one of the many games due out over the next year or two may have caught his eye.

For his requirements I'd suggest  WoW is ideal. Although EQ2 may also be able to fit the bill.

Thanks a lot for the responses.  They pretty much confirmed what I'm seeing at the lower levels.  Tons of quests, and good variety.  (Which I honestly didn't expect when I first picked up the game)

I've played EQ2 as a Ranger till about level 35 and I didn't like the fact that I could never look at my character and say "I look badass" while in WoW I've already crossed paths with characters that I can honestly say look badass and they're only level 20-30.  Armor Progression is a big thing for me as well as variety of armor, and it looks like WoW has that.

I think it was all the Raid talk that made me not play the game until now, but I'm really enjoying it.  I think I'll probably subscribe, but not get the expansion until I max out the character I'm currently playing.  Can't justify paying 40 bucks for an expansion no matter what it includes.

Thanks again for the responses.  So if you want to keep this thread going, feel free to discuss any really awesome quests you ran into along the way.  That would be a lot of fun, and really help to point out what appears to be the game's strongest point, but no one talks about it because they're too focused on the Raids.

One of the best quests in the game I think is the Legend of Stalvan you get in your early 20s.  Tons of xp, and you run all over the place solving the puzzle.  Nice rewards at the end too.  Another awesome quest is in Winterspring called "Are we there yeti?" you get to scare some golblins and get your own (3 charges) mechanical yeti at the end.

    "Did you see us fight?"
