It really spooked me seeing all those hammer and sickles everywhere in Italy.  What was the deal with that in the 70's?

I felt very uneasy walking the streets at night.

To think it's a very conservative and corporate minded country now. (also one of the G8)

Come on... Ya know ya wanna do a Euro tour. Check out some females (crap, you"re married aren't ya?), swear at the socialists, kick some hippies, smoke some artificially grown weed, drink some beer, drinks some vodka, be drunk 24/7, spend loads of euro's,...

    Actually I am single....LOL

I have friends in Germany and Italy I used to game with in Jumpgate.

My closest friend lives in Germany, we used to play UO together in 1998 and Jumpgate a few years ago, we are still close friends to this day.  He keeps asking me to visit him.

I  am sure those places I went to changed allot.

Heh, and I'm wanting to visit the US (bored with Europe) one day. Probably going to Germany in match. Tho before getting to the US plans I first have to get the money (can go up to Portugal and back with no money) and some remote idea what part is interesting enough for my divine attention.

Hey......yea sorry about that post, Conservatives make me angry.  Not much else does, but man they really get to me

Don't be terrorized! You're more likely to die of a car accident, drowning, fire, or murder! More people die every year from prescription drugs than terrorism LOL!

I listen to plenty of reasonable Repblicans because there are some ideas of their's that I agrree with, but I can't understand how a depply rooted Conservative could survive past the age of 17.  Wow...........I Mean Wow......................I wish I could comprehend it, I really do, but I won't because I know it's all just bullshit

Perhaps when you broaden your horizons you'll be able to see your own country somewhat differently, and realize how it can be improved and know how to value its upsides even more.

When I was in the Navy, I travelled quite a bit. ( 1974-1979) The countries I have been to:

Malaga and Torremolinos, Spain  (OMG...the women were hot)

Rome, Naples, Civitavecchia, Italy  (Loved the Red light district and the food)

LaMaddalina, Sardenia  (Dead, nothing to do)

Siteia, Crete (One whole block of women of the night)

Mykonos, Greece (Party 24/7, stayed drunk on ouzo)

Split, Yugoslavia  (1st american Navy ship in their port in over 25 years...we were treated like Gods)  Before the country fell apart

Toulon, Marseille, France (Toulon was fun, Marseille was very dirty)

    Gibraltar (Great English Pubs)

Istanbul, Turkey (Top of the line Hash and a very dirty place) got dysentery there by drinking the water

There were a few more I went to, but cant remember.  After seeing children go through our garbage for food and communist signs everywhere in Italy...I was glad to be an American.  On the other hand....I met some of the nicest people I have ever seen over there.

Plus, I learned to burp after I ate for the Italians....LOL  They clapped when I did.

Don't judge western Europe by that! You do realise that in the 70s most of those countries - except for France and to some extent Italy - were rather poor? Things improved a lot since then for those countries. You haven't truly been to Europe yet. You should visit sometime!

I agree with Praetoriani. Visiting Europe is completely different from visiting Europe now. In the seventies, we were still recovering from WWII. There was the fear of cummunists and nukes, Germany was split, yugoslavia still existed. Franco was in power (portugal was also ruled by a dicatator, although i forgot his name), the EU didn't exist (you had the EC but not the EU, which only came into existence after the treaty of Maastricht in 1991), We had colonial wars with our semi-independent (at the time) colonies in Africa, etc..

    Europe has changed alot :D

Im actually visiting my parents in Germany right now and everyones been so nice to me (even though im trying to learn german and it sucks, they still try to speak english to me).

suck as in my speaking.. not the language.. its just hard to learn hah!

Im a world traveler myself.. I think its the people who don't get out and see other countries who are the ones who can't take a joke. Yea every now and then I'll walk into a place who hate americans or see some graffitti thats anti-american (in venice I saw a drawing of the two towers and something to the affect of "take that america" but the english sucked..) but everyone hates somebody... so I take it with a grain of salt..  *shrugs*.

if I can I try to be as nice as I can to these people.. because I know most of the time its because they met with horrible travelers who don't know how to try and blend in.. who try to force their coutries habits on others..

oh well.. keep up the jokes.. but maybe try and put less anti-american jokes ;)

Agreed. Racism and hate can happen everywhere. Everywhere where people are not willing to adapt to other cultures.

Beautiful how Christians are always the easiest targets of immature crap like this...As soon as someone posted something depicting Muhammed this thread would be locked and the posters would be labeled as bigots.

Your argument is like a two legged dog with an eating disorder...weak and unbalanced.

  • MadAceMadAce Member Posts: 2,461
I agree. That's why I didn't post that to begin with. I wonder if Jesus would be able to laugh with that. I doubt it.

I'd much rather laugh with politics.

At the risk of sounding prejudice it's because the Muslims just maybe overreact about a few things

Trough experience I know that that is completely untrue. I've lived and travelled with muslims and I found most of them to be much more tolerant than I am. They take insults, racism and discrimination on a daily basis and generally don't even react. I'm of course talking about the muslims in my country.
  • CochizeCochize Member Posts: 211

I'm not talking about Muslims as a whole I'm talking about the ones who make the news (in America).  Real muslims are a compltely different bunch than what is shown by American news.

The only question I have is how this thread is alive after all this time.

I guess it's because of people like me. :)

    whoops.  forgot the question mark.
